The conscious sedation nurses make me nervous. This one was obvious grossly incompetent. As for the GI, when the monitor says your patient it's dying, you might want to use a little common sense and take a good look yourself. The economic damages there will be considerable.

Did you find the award of $5 mil to be fair?

I am filled with revulsion and loathing that the Plaintiff's bar might be useful in the fight to have our value recognized. Kinda like being on the same side as Al Qaeda in the Syrian conflict.

$5 million was a fair settlement. $250k for pain/suffering and 4.75 million for lost wages. They said husband didn't get anymore for household work she may have been responsible for which I found odd. They reason she's a professional and didn't have any value in the home day to day activities.

She's a doctor and they calculated she would have made at least $200/250k x 20-30 years. That's where the figure comes from.

It's an easy number to get to.

At issue is what value do we place for economic damages on say a child? We will never know. That's why lawyers have a heyday with punitive damages because comprensatory damages can be easily calculated and that number is small for regular wage earners.
