How could those #&)$( DAT people put a limit on the F*&*( TEST!!!!!!!!!!! My sister studies day and night day and night for 4-5 months. Now that her scores came back lower she cant eat, sleep for day and cries!!!! WHY THE F do students have to go thru this ****, they take you to hell and keep you there wwith that f'n limit. Is it cause they cant think of more questions. MORE so they should look beyond numbers if they were smart. WHAT A F*^&(*(* up world we live in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!People who are smart and dedicated and hard working dont get a chance, whi;le ppl who dont give a damn always get in and screw up other lives. I HATE THIS F'N **** cant we fight against them putting that damn limit. AND DONT ANYONE SAY THAT IF U HAVE TO TAKE IT MORE THAN3 times u cant be a dentist. TEST DONT PROVE ****!

You can actually take it more than 3 times, you just need to request special permission to do it again. As much as it seems like they put the limit simply to screw students, they mainly have the limit so people who make up practice exams don't repeatedly take the DAT to memorize more questions. She shouldn't have a big problem trying to retake the DAT, it's just a pain having to deal with contacting them about getting the permission.

who wants to do that, the schools will prob judge on u too

anyone can get 4.0 in almost any class if he/she studied hard. come on if she have a high gpa then she must do good in the dat unless the classes that she took were useless. my general bio class was useless and that is why i didn't get higher than an 18 in the bio section. we didn't cover any section in detail. we covered things i knew from middle school science classes. memorizing isn't the only way to do good in the dat or in many classes. understanding the material is more important than memorizing it because you will not forget it easily.

for the signed signature thing. i think they just looked at my credit card, student id and driver's license.

um, this guy needs to experience better living through chemistry. . . if you know what I mean

it also happend to me. they refused to let me take the test because i needed two forms of ids with a SIGNATURE on each one. i was sooo lucky i had my cc id and i didnt know it was signed. i thought i was not going to take it before the lady told me the other id had a signature. i brought my old drivers license and the new driver's license and she refused to accept the old one because it expired two months prior the test day. i was really scared during the test and i think my scores went at least 1 point down because i was cold and nervous.

I don't know if this will help, but it is a known fact that there is somewhat of a gender diffference in the way timed high stakes multiple choice tests are approached. Males tend to look upon the tests as a game and will often make low risk educated guesses at the right answer before having completley procesed an entire question . Females tend to want to process each question to completion to arrive at the correct answer even when all the false answers can be logically deduced or inferred at some point before the question is entirely processed. The two different approaches could obviously make a big diffrence in how many problems within an entire test get addressed before the buzzer sounds. If that is your sister's hang up, it can be corrected with a bit of practice. Good luck.

That was quite a vent...I hope that you feel better!!

maybe someone up there is telling her dentistry is not for her, and that her dedication is to be used somewhere else!

thats why they have dental assistant jobs. if you cant get at least average scores on the DAT after 3 times, good luck trying to keep up in dental school.

Is it you in this position or your sister? Why is it that you keep goin back and forth between the 2.

relax, breath deep and tomorrow will be a new day, approach it as such.

The DAT is just a test. Just another test. And claiming that the only people who do well or get into d-school are those who "got lucky" or just goofed off is completely wrong. I'll chalk it up to your anger, but remember that there are plenty of peeps on here who are APPLYING 2 or 3 times to get in. Unfortunately, life isn't fair and effort isn't necessarily able to be measured quantitatively. What IS fair is giving someone three chances to do well on the DAT. Because, to be frank, after three failed attempts a good performance WILL be viewed at as lucky. I suggest your sister seriously re-evaluate her career choices -- and I'm not saying that to be mean, I'm saying that to be realistic. But I'm just a random guy on an anonymous message board. Take my advice at face value.

This thread wasnt meant to offend anyone. I wasnt trying to say people get lucky and thats why they do good, but you have to admit there are some out there. ANyways i just let out a bunch of anger, so I apologize if I offended someone.

Yes, it's one thing to do what you like but it's another to do what you can. Take my buddy from college...the dude desperately wants to be a pharmacist...failed G-chem twice...got my help and boosted G-chem grade to a C only to fail bio....I say if you're not capable of going into a certain field, be realistic and look at the signs...
