I wanted to get a head start on anatomy and thought I would spend some time learning it now so my first semester wouldn't be so overwhelming.
Does anyone have any favorite anatomy books or other study materials that they would recommend?

He's my professor 😀

Don't. Please! 🙂 Relax, enjoy your time off! Once the semester starts you will be wishing you had that free time back!! They will teach you everything you need to know!

I'm concerned my brain could explode first semester:scared:

I've been told by graduates to not worry about trying to prepare ahead of time - it won't do much good and you'll want that free time back.

Either way, your response about your brain exploding made me laugh because it reminds me of one of the best scenes in tv history (from the Cosby show). It's not totally related to your situation but it makes me laugh everytime I see it.

Ditto. I've said it a few times on here. Just don't do it, for the love of god. Go outside, do something fun. Studying now isn't going to give you wings in first semester. It only squanders what little free time you have available. It's like feeding your Christmas feast to the pigs when you have a famine coming up.

This book is FABULOUS. Get this one! It's the only book I used routinely (other than the dissection guide for each lab). The other "required" or recommended anatomy books were barely cracked and I sold them shortly thereafter. I have gone back to this again and again in my surgery class as well. I 😍 this book.

OK, I won't do it!😛
BUT, I will look the recommended books up for the future!
Thanks for the input!

So you got in for next year, and you are wondering what classes to take this semester, before you begin? I assume you are at CSU now, OK, Marks undergrad anatomy class (305) I think it is will get you ready for Anna's class. If u already took that, then go the 531 dissection class, Physiology, cell or developmental bio, Dr. Madl's histology class. Those are all classes you will be glad to have under your belt. I did the MS-B last year, and it has made first year a lot easier. They actually asked if I wanted to test out of a class last semester -- I should have taken them up on the offer in hindsight.

Oh, buy the Pasquini book as your anatomy guide, along with Anatomy of the Dog.

Can't budget for more coursework at CSU this semester...was just going to study on my own. I finished my MS, but I agree those would have been good classes

So you haven't taken either of Mark's anatomy classes? Again, they are hard -- taught at vet school level. Mark and Anna are more like twins than best friends. Closer than that. Ask him if you can even just audit 305 at least. Seriously, it will make the killer class in semester 1 sooo much easier. Wish I was joining y'all back in Ft C.🙂

I took anatomy at OSU years ago/ did OK but don't remember much
Since I commute and work full time, can't be in Fort Collins that many days a week along with 4 hours commute time a day. (Gotta earn some $$$ to pay for all of this). I talked to Mark about auditing last spring...he wasn't for it.
