ANKI question

I just decided give Anki a try and so I downloaded on my laptop. so far I like it but it was a pain in the neck to to transfer my deck to my Ipad (which I prefer). So I ended up buy the mobile app and started making flash cards on the Ipad. I made well over 250 flashcards but I can not find them on the deck there are supposed to be. in fact I can not find them on either of the two decks I made. when I do a search for the tag I used, I get a search result screen with all the flachcard I that are missing but not in flash card format. They are shown as list of the question and answer. when I click on each question It brings me to the screen the looks like the screen I used when I was making the cards. I don't have an option to move them to a deck? Does anyone know of a away to move the cards to a deck? Also is the best way to make card to make them on a laptop and then transfer them to the Ipad? I'm not sure how much you can edit your collection from the mobile app. I would just sync with anki web and make your changes on the desktop version.
