I have been in touch with a cardiologist regarding me shadowing him during the summer since March. He's a really nice guy, and seemed eager to allow me to shadow him. Anyway, I called him the beginning of May when I got home from college and it took me forever to get through to him because I'd leave messages on his secretaries machine and I'd never get a call back. Finally she did call back and asked me what exaclty I said in the message because she didn't understand any of it besides my #. So I told her and she spoke to the doctor and he said that "yeah deffinately but if its okay with you can we wait till after June 26th" - because he has a nurse practitioner or something shadowing him until then. I said yeah sure fine I'll call back at the end of June. Now here it is, I left a message Monday morning at 930AM(office opens at 8 on Mon) and now its Wed and havent heard anything. I called, it went right to the secretaries voicemail - then I called the main line thats used to "make an aptmnt" just to get to someone I can actually talk to. I explained to her the situation as basically and quickly as I can stating I kept getting her voicemail and she says "hold on a sec" and shoots me directly to her voicemail again. I can't stand this crap - I wasted 2 months of the summer already not doing anything really medically related except some minor MCAT studying and now the big oppurtunity I was supposed to get doesn't look like its happening because no one cares enough to hear me out. What would you do? Keep calling and bugging/demanding to speak to him? I just left another message today saying that I'm calling again bc I haven't heard back.

haha. thats funny. at least from an outside perspective. i see how you might want to ring her neck.

but anyways, screw the phone, show up at the office. itll be hard for you to transfer to voicemail when shes lookin at your face. but seriously, if you watn to get things done, you've got to take initiative. clearly telephone is a poor way to communicate, he already told you could shadow so he knows who you are. go to the office and politely explain you have been trying to get in contact for months but have been unable, so you thought you'd come down and talk to her to settle it because you are excited and eager to start and you ony have so much time before summer is over and you go back to school.
