Hello friends,
I'm trying to figure out if I'm disadvantaged. I grew up in a low socioeconomic household (both parents working, neither with a college degree, had a net income of 40k at the most). We're a family of 4 and we received free/reduced lunch (is this one of the means-tested programs?). I also started working at 17 to help support the family. I only had enough money to apply to one school and couldn't afford any tutors/prep courses for stuff like the MCAT and classes. My premed adviser told me that since I have good grades I can't apply as disadvantaged because "clearly these things didn't have an impact on my grades," but I would disagree since I believe I had to work a bit harder than those who could afford private tutors/prep courses and such.
So, am I disadvantaged? Thanks for reading.
