I would like to know if current/former military physician views posted on this forum has changed your views about military medicine.

Panties?
Pansies?
I never even thought about how to spell the word pansies before, looks funny if you ask me.
Sorry to call you out on your spelling.

Globus P said:Maybe because this poll serves no purpose. As you know, many of us have already signed the contract and the constant barrage of "its gonna suck for you" is getting old. Just wish us well and fade away into your civilian practice.
I posted with my surprise.militarymd said:Come on.....105 views and only 19 voters???

militarymd said:It never ceases to surprise me how some people JUST DON"T GET IT. It is not about "its gonna suck for you".
It is about information for those who have NOT signed already.
The poll does serve a purpose....it lets me know if I've POSITIVELY helped someone who has NOT signed.
Applying for "06, prior service (4 years active marine) what you say illuminates a side of things that I wasn't aware of. It is a unique duality to be a doctor and in the military, the choices are my own but I like learning from others in order to make informed decisions. Question for you, say you want to be a doc but the only med school you get in is Uniformed Services, knowing what you know now what do you choose?militarymd said:It never ceases to surprise me how some people JUST DON"T GET IT. edmadison said:Part of the problem is that the questions are very biased as written. How about a choice; "I respect the opinions of those that posted, and I realize that military medicine has its drawbacks. However, after weighing the pros and cons, I decided to serve." Of course the version in the poll could be less wordy.

Sure, I think the results of such a poll would be nothing short of interesting, but remember the selection bias inherent with such an audience. Also, think of all the poll results oft quoted by the major media. You can't turn on the Turner Propaganda Channel, I meant CNN, or the Blindly Love Our GOP Station, aka FOX news, without hearing something like, "7 out of 10 respondents to a nationwide poll think President Bush is doing a worse job in leading our country than Imelda Marcos did for the Philippines." Well, what they forgot to tell you is that the poll choices included only Stalin, Mussolini, Pol Pot, or the esteemed Marcos. Before any local chapter of the Imelda Marcos Fan Club replies and castigates me for comparing her to the rest of those infamous leaders, I'm not. I'm just trying to make a point, albeit in a roundabout way. Anyhow, less slanted/biased choices will make for more valid results. I will now hop down off my biostats soap box. I now return you to your local programming on the "I hate military medicine and all that it stands for channel".
