For someone who took their Step 1 already, for the most part, do the questions have a reasonable number of multiple choice options? I know they can go up to the letter n or somewhere in that area, but I've noticed in Uworld that they rarely go that far so I have time to go through process of elimination when they usually only go a-e (and its been saving my butt in a lot of situations). I'm worried that I'll run out of time if I'm scanning from A-P every time on the real exam. It's understandable if they do this to cover all possible lab results because I'll just quickly jot what I think it is and look for it, but is it common for most questions to go to say option J? Thanks in advance!

I haven't taken Step1 yet, but I've done thousands of practice questions so far, and I know with certainty that, ironically, the questions with the most answer choices are usually the easiest ones (i.e. you should come up with the answer without even looking at the choices), whereas the ones with four answer choices tend to be tricky (i.e. many times, <45%, will get them right). If you're missing the questions with lots of answer choices, chances are there needs to be additional study in broad concept areas, whereas if you miss the four answer-choice questions, chances are they're more minutiae anyway. To that effect, when I first enter a new question, without even having read the stem yet, if I glance and see that there are four answers, I usually say "here we go..."

I agree that the questions with more answer choices on UWorld are more easier (and they tend to be lab value questions where they cover all possible lab results). I was wondering if on the real exam, the type of UWorld questions that usually only go from A-D/E will go from A-N

sorry one more question (didn't want to make another thread)

Are you able to search for lab values on the actual exam like you are in UWorld (where they will highlight the word and which tab to find that lab value at)?

The answer choices were mostly A-D/E on the real test. I don't even remember any questions that went higher than that--I'm sure they were there, but the fact that they don't stick out in my mind suggests they weren't particularly abundant or difficult.

Don't know, sorry. I never used this feature in practice, and never attempted on the real test.
