Depends on you, not wat specialty. If you are a likeable guy and do a good job you will be successful. If you are a total ass even if you are very good with a drill you will be broke. Also, if you are choosing this profession simply because of money I would sugest dropping out now. Youll never make it through school and even if you do you will be miserable.

um..honestly..this thread is stupid and I was making fun of it. boooooo!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TO ALL PREDENTS

You are applying to DENTAL SCHOOL, not ORAL SURGERY SCHOOL, not ORTHODONTIST SCHOOL, not PEDIATRIC DENTAL SCHOOL.

None of you have ever cut a prep, made a crown, made a denture, pulled a tooth, or placed a spacer.

You sound like *****S when you talk about specializing when you haven't even started learning GENERAL dentistry.

Agreed, for the most part...if someone has a family member in a specialty, or did some extensive shadowing with a specialty dentist, then maybe I believe they're genuine when they say they want to specialize....but for most, the whole "I wanna specialize" gig is about which makes the most $$$

Memo to predents: Loan money is not the same as lottery money.

Think you'll be paying off that 6-figure difference within 1-2 years of graduating from D school? <--- that's going to be the response of every current dentist out there. Don't forget that 1) the majority of that borrowed money is UNsubsidized while you're in school, and 2) if you're lucky enough to net 6 figures in those first 2 years out of school, just wait to see how much that number diminishes after taxes, living expenses, and other bills are subtracted.

Isn't money that goes towards one's education tax deductible? so I would think that money that goes towards paying a loan that was used on school tuition would also be tax deductible..

or am i wrong?

And also kind of like when college freshmen walk into intro bio/chem/orgo and start yapping about how they're going to be doctors? I thought everyone was over that type of preemptive decision making, but whatever, thanks for the lols, guys.

It sure is tax deductible! ( Assuming your income is less than 70,000 per year, and you get diminishing returns past 55,000) If you file a joint return you might be able to sneak in with a $2500 deduction (If you make under 110,000 and your spouse doesn't have any income to report).

i really have to wonder if this thread serves any purpose other than for trolling or flame wars.
