Why are they considered globular proteins if theyre shaped like a Y?

In the 3 dimensional structure of an antibody, each of the arms and base is globular, not flat like it looks printed in textbooks.
 
dont think of globular proteins as being globe shaped. the main point you need to take away is that globular proteins generally have the hydrophilic residues on the outside and the hydrophobic residues buried inside, thus they are soluble unlike fibrous proteins. Dont get hung up on the actual shape - thats not as important as the 3-D arrangement of the residues
