I've been very upset since last Friday. When I opened the envelope with my PCAT scores, I was shocked: 39 %tile Composite. My chemistry was 70%, math 62%, bio 35%, reading 34%, verbal 14%. I am from India though. I have 4.0 GPA, Honors and great LOR's.
What do you think about my situation? Retake the PCAT for 2009 admissions?

Thank you for you help.

Since you're not a native English speaker, Id concentrate on getting your chem math and bio scores up, and then work a little on verbal. If you were to get in the nineties on those three and then score in at least the 40's on verbal and reading, you'd get a good composite.

Otherwise, i doubt you will get accepted due to the large discrepancy between your PCAT and GPA.

Woah dude. You totally don't deserve that mark. Seeing as how you're a 4.0 GPA student, you totally deserve better! I would recommend retaking the PCAT for 2009 admissions if you are applying to a pharm school that requires PCATs.

Also, while you're still here, would you mind specifically sharing us your secrets? 🙂 And don't just say study your ass off! 😛 We know there's more... 🙂

Hey, I'm sure you mean well, but how do you know what anyone deserves or doesn't deserve?

I noticed on another thread that you said you're in 11th grade. While your offers of help and encouragement are positive, I wonder how much experience you really have, especially when it comes to understanding things like discrepancies between GPA and PCAT scores?

Hey your GPA is better than mine. My PCAT is 43% which is the same as yours but my GPA is 3.17 which is low so I am in worse shape than you.
WHat schools are you applying to? Did you have interviewed yet? Will you take PCAT over or is this your first time taking PCAT?

It's my first time taking PCAT and I am really bad at multiple choice (I felt like I didn't have a chance to think). As I mentioned, I am a foreigner; so, the way I think is different and I never took a multiple choice test in my life before I came to the USA. I feel like I should train myself also on the test-taking techniques.
I believe that I get my 4.0 not because I study all the time, but because I always do my assignments, I torture the instructors until I understand the subject, I plan my schedule months ahead and don't put too many science classes together.

Did anybody here take TOEFL before? How was it?

I took the TOEFL on October, and it wasn't that bad. The reading section and the speaking section were the hardest. You have to listen to a short conversation and/or lecture, then you have to speak your answers in the microphone that they provide you. Overall, it was not as bad as the PCAT!!!!!
But, I would make sure you know the format of the TOEFL and take the practice test.

It is normal when you got a bad score in the first time of taking. I got 39% in the first time, and retook with a 80%. My Gpa is not as good as you are. So, do not worry, just retake it and make sure you study more for the Pcat.

Hey 5 minutes. I also have a low PCAT but I am retaking it in January. Any advice on how you got your score to go up so much?
