ok do one thing. go to www.criaglist.com
you will find categories for appartments n rental rooms in various parts of the country and their contact numbers aswell

as far as DA salary is concerned, california has the most expensive cost of living and so to match are the salaries here. but it depends on yr previous work experience. Are u an RDA? cause an RDA most likely gets about 25 to 30 dollars an hour or may be more. u might also find that on the criaglist.com.
All da best!

Hi mkot,

I stay in the bay area, and have been working as a dental asst for a few months now, and the best way to get a DA position if you are a foreign trained dentist, is to actually make a copy of your resume, and walk in to a couple of dental offices, and pass them around. If you have x-ray certification, and crown polishing cert., you have better chances of getting a decent job, and the pay is much better too. The avg pay, though, is bout $18/hr, and even if you earn less than 30K, you pay a tax of bout $20 on every $100 you make. Another place to look up DA jobs is careerbuilder.com, where some dentists actually advertise for people with a 4 yr foreign degree. I hope this helps, and good luck with your search.

Hi Mkot,

I live in the bay area, and have been working as a dental asst for a few months now. The avg salary, if you have a x-ray license, and a crown polishing cert., is much higher, and is bout $18/hr (This is avg., pay may be higher or lower depending on place/experience/certification etc.) You typically pay a tax of $20 on every $100 you make, and that includes state, federal taxes, medcare and disability. The best place to look for apt rents is rent.com, and they give you a $100 cash back if you pick an apt from their list, just make sure to mention rent.com to the leasing office. I hope this helps, and good luck with your search.

I can give you a rough idea bout what you need to do to become a RDA... Students without a dental background go to a dental asst school where they can graduate in approx 9 months. They then send their degree to the registering office, and when the office accepts their degree, they need to take the practical exam first. If they clear the practical exam, they get to take the written exam, and if they clear that too, they get to become a RDA. I guess the best option for a BDS would be to send copies of your degree and transcripts to the appropriate agency, and see what they say. If they are ok with that, I guess you can take the practical and written tests. Hope this helps!
