Did anybody out there have a positive experience either on a rotation or during an interview at Einstein? The reason I ask is because almost everybody seems to have received 'bad vibes' from the PD and/or faculty.

I didn't have a good experience there as an interviewee. It seemed very disorganized. We applicants were getting pretty irritable by lunchtime since they didn't bother providing any breakfast. It was actually quite funny when we were touring the ORs before lunch and everyone was mumbling under their breath "just give me some (expletive) food!"

First of all....the secretary acted like she was doing me a favor by granting me an interview.

Instead of them selling the program to me, it felt as if they were asking why they should take me. Total reverse from my other interviews. The interviewers were not very friendly either.

The Regis Philbin video made me laugh. They should just acept the fact that the hospital is in the ghetto. They should sell the fact that they are a short subway ride from Manhattan.

The facilities sucked as well.

Overall, if it were not for the fact that I could live in Manhattan and commute, I would not rank them at all.

I mentioned before on another post that einstein gave me the heebiejeebies. It was one of my last interviews so our group was very spoiled and all used to getting free breakfast. So none of us ate before we got there that day which is not a big deal, but really started the day on a negative note (you know how applicants complain).

The secretary made it seem like we were gladiators about ready to be fed to the lions. It was just weird the way she acted very intense as she said "good luck everyone." I think she just hates the interview days.

After 5 long interviews it was around 1:00 or 2:00 in the afternoon, at which point we started our tour. This also was fine but, I didnt like the way they paraded us by the lunch table where all the attendings and residents were chowing down on the food as we went off on our tour still starving.

It seemed very odd to me that we only got to meet 3 residents. They made a big deal out of it too as if it were impossible to get those 3 to come and talk to us. Overall their feelings were favorable, but I kinda got the feeling like they were hiding things from us.

Mostly what I didnt like about my interview there was what the chief told me during our personal interview (which I wont be mentioning here).

Otherwise, the place has lots of volume and extraordinarily complex cases. They get the most funding out of anywhere in the US and they are a 30 minute subway ride from Manhattan.
