The Family Practice Residency is the critical skill environment for developing a quality Family Practicioner. Granted, those with 3rd and 4th year clinical rotations or a 5th pathway in the US will be more prepared to understand what is expected of them at the beginning of the first year if residency. I, however, did neither, completing all my studies, 5th and 6th years in Mexico and did well enough to be chief resident in an urban residency.
