Since I'm a ***** at this I'm going to ask what kind of part time jobs are out there for a student like me and what kind of job search engine do you use that actually works and won't lead me to pointless links.

I've never had a job in my life. All I did is volunteer at a pharmacy and I am involved in college if that matters. I can't get a job in retail because I hate it and I doubt I'll get one as a retail pharm tech. I can't get a job as a hospital pharm tech because it's harder to get than retail.

What I'm looking for is a job that will show my soft nurturing side like helping the homeless or something. I also like jobs that have anything to do with children but I think those are hard to get too.

Also I will be so happy if someone with enough patience can actually help me find job opportunities for the following reasons:
1) I am terrible at search for things
2) When I find a website that look decent sometimes I have trouble finding what I want
3) Owle gave me bad luck

However, if there is anyone willing to donate $1500 AMERICAN dollars then that would be even better 😀

Does your school have any resources for finding student employment? They probably have an office or website for that. Mine has an online search engine thing for all the jobs posted by different departments in the school and some outside companies as well or tutoring or babysitting professors' kids, lol. I have two student jobs, one in a lab and one as a cashier at the on-campus pharmacy 😍

Yes my school does, but it's mostly for students with some federal work aid thing and I don't have it.
Wow your school have a lot of diverse jobs. We just have cashiers. And you have an on-campus pharmacy???!!! That's so cool!!!

I just volunteered in an independent compounding pharmacy to get experience and worked serving tables in a restaurant for money. Compounding is pretty easy and independents always love the free labor. Restaurant work is easy for the money it makes.

I didn't get any of the jobs I've had by looking online by the way. I went in person to every single one and when they were hiring they told me to go apply online. Try doing that.

Yeah there's one at the student health center and one at a complex with doctors offices, MRI, labs, etc where our med/nursing students learn and practice.

I agree. I just walked in to most jobs I've had and asked if they were hiring. Are you sure you'd hate retail? Why not apply on CVS, or Walgreen's website. That was how I got all my training as a tech. I was paid to learn, and then after 6 months CVS paid for me to become nationally certified. Then after a year's experience I went to a hospital. With the state of unemployment being what it is, you are going to have to do some leg work. You won't get a job unless you actively search for it. Have you tried grocery store pharmacy? I have no experience, but the rx count is usually quite low and you may like the slower pace. Think about where or for whom you would like to work and then see if they have a website. Most have a small section at the very bottom that says "careers" where you can apply online. Hope that helps.

No I'm not sure I would hate retail. I went to a pharmacy at a grocery and it was a bad experience because I went up to the pharmacist and asked if she was hiring and she was. She started asking for information like when can I work and what school I got to etc., but she also started asking me pharmacy tech. questions like what's latex and stuff. That through me off guard, she even asked me a question even owle can't answer 😱 she showed me something that looked like this 11/11 or 1/1 (like a fraction). Do you know what that is????

I applied to CVS stores in back in July and I didn't get any calls 🙁
A lot of people wants that tech job, so it seems pretty competitive, so I really doubt I'll get anywhere with that.

Retail depends on location, company, coworkers, the regulars, services the pharmacy offers (drive thru, auto refill - through a program or an app), etc.

You'll have to show them what you can do and they'll trust you to do more without as much supervision.

Don't let that one experience cloud your view of retail--try getting a retail pharmacy position somewhere else and really give it a chance. Just start pounding pavement and asking eeeeverywhereeee.....this is what I did for over a year before I got my job at CVS.

Plus, you'll have very little chance of getting in at a hospital without retail experience. Hospital is FAR better than retail in terms of pay, so you might want to get started building yourself a resume to get a hospital pharm tech job.

👍👍

I have never gotten a job by just searching monster.com or something like that. You gotta use some shoe leather to get your first job. The only people I have ever heard of successfully getting jobs this way had a lot of experience in their field & sticking to that same field.

I think I'd suggest Notecard's approach, since you haven't had a job before - get a job doing something unrelated (entry level) and volunteer somewhere to get pharmacy / helping children & the homeless experience.
