OMG!! You're still waiting?? The secretary contacted me about a week ago and confirmed my date (after I waited for 2 weeks). In fact, I e-mailed her to thank her for the date and she e-mailed right back, so I know that she's checking her inbox. You should seriously call/e-mail her again. Good luck.

I finally got a confirmation. They claimed to be backlogged due to so many applications this year.

Tufts-NEMC today

I'm trying to figure how I can fit Virginia Mason into my travel schedule. If I have to axe them, then I guess I feel kind of guilty. I know it's a solid program, but might focus too much on regional as opposed to general anesthesia.

Indiana university school of medicine by e-mail.
Is Dr Stoelting still there?
I hope I get to meet him 😛

See?
I told you 🙂

Picked up #11 today. Mount Sinai via e-mail

So the updated list is:
Colombia-done
Northwestern-done with interview
Rush-done
Loyola
U of Chicago-done
SLR
Temple
UIC-done
Boston University
UTSW
Mount Sinai

Mount Sinai tends to offer interviews late in the season.... so don't give up hope if you haven't heard from them yet.

recently invited to UCSF... look at my new post to those who have received interviews.... thanks

Vandy (went last week...good program, but I think they work really hard. Has anyone heard anything else about Vandy? I know they fired 3 residents last year........ that's not good...)

I was told that 2 of the residents had to leave due to illness and the other chose a different specialty.

1. SLU - a decent interview, attendings are very nice and like most interviews it is very laid back. Dinner at the Hard Rock, can be a little noisy so you have to listen closely
2. RUSH - I really liked this program, all the attendings are nice and the residents seemed happy
3. Wash U - VERY impressed with Barnes, they deffinitly wine and dine you on this one. Attendings are very nice and the residents seem genuily happy even though they work hard. Seems like a strong program
4. VCU - I did not like this program at all, just a bad gut feeling. The residents seemed happy but emphasized a bit to strongly and frequently that they weren't hiding any disgruntled residents. They have a nice schedule ~55 hours a week and a night float system. Interviews are laid back but the attendings are not all direct in their answers of some basic questions.
5.UT-Houston - had a very large group of applicants, about 24, the residents are alot of fun. They take you to a happy hour the night before the interview and this is probably the best time to get in info from the residents. The formal interview was only 2 people and as with most interviews it was laid back.
6.U. of Chicago
7.Northwestern
8.Emory
9.University of Washington
10. Beth Isreal
11. Columbia
12. Mount Sinai
13. UMKC
14. UT-SW
15. KU

I'll update thoughts on other programs. I think I've maxed out how many interviews i can handle, had to start sending rejections to some of the offers I'm getting, University of Colorado, Tufts, and South Carolina so far.

My revised anesthesia list 🙂 I'm just happy I made it to ten interviews!!

Hey there.... I'm thinking of cancelling west. penn. mainly because I don't have much info on the program.... any good reasons why you cancelled your interview ????? 😕 thanks...

I only applied to LA and NYC programs.

Anesthesia:
Columbia
Cornell
Mt. Sinai
NYU
St. Lukes
St. Vincents
UCLA
USC

Prelim medicine:
Beth Isreal
Cabrini
Cedars-Sinai
Columbia
Mt. Sinai
NYU
UCLA
USC (had to decline; won't fit in during my CA trip)

still waiting for more prelims: St. Vincents, Cornell, UCLA-VA, NYU-Downtown (still exits?), and Lenox Hill.

Something makes me question the reliability of this.

Cornell does not have a preliminary program in internal medicine.

I guess this is the program: New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens/Cornell University Medical College Program
Identifier: 140-35-11-262
Specialty: Internal Medicine

Okay, I must be "second wave" material because I'm still getting invitations rolling in... it's getting to the point where I'm going to start to have to make some tough decisions and possibly cancel some sites I've already scheduled.

Swaydaa, why did you cancel Albany? I'm scheduled to go there pretty soon. Was there something particular (e.g., location, something you heard, etc.)? Just curious.
