Any others decent applicants with no acceptances yet?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am aware of no schools that draw from a true waitlist before traffic day (May 15th) though I suppose it's possible.
University of Pittsburgh accepted wait listed applicants in March and April last year, but I don't know of any other schools that start pulling from "true wait lists" (i.e. not post-interview holds or deferrals) before May 15th.

Thank you for your responses!

Good to know. Perhaps they under-accepted and adjusted mid-cycle when multiple accepts came out. Thanks!

1) Do I interpret it correctly that schools are more likely to accept from their wait list people who don't have any acceptances at the moment than those who already do? (it does seem fair to people who have no acceptances at the moment)
2) Do I understand it correctly that letters of interest are most useful if you're accepted somewhere adcoms may think you're more likely to attend? Say, if you're accepted to your well regarded state school and/or to higher ranked schools than the one you're wait listed at, but really want to attend the one that wait listed you, then a letter of interest to that school may help?
3) What exactly is good timing for sending a LOI? Post-decision and pre-May 15th? (I've heard that sending a LOI before decisions are released may backfire because adcoms don't like being pressured.)

Thank you for your answers here and elsewhere!

LOI, by and large will be useless if the school has not waitlisted you.

That being said, if what you are calling "post-decision" is for a wait list decision, I would wait until it's a little closer to May 15th (maybe a week before? ish) and send your LOI directly to who ever oversee's the committee - for example, at Case Western I believe that is Mr. Essman and Dr. Mehta, for example, so you'd want to address your LOI to them. Anything that gets "added to your file" is not something that you can count on having looked at in a timely manner.

Good Luck!

University of Miami, New York Medical College, SUNY Buffalo all have decent waitlist movement, IIRC.

I'm not talking about Case, but thank you 🙂

Before May 15th? That was the question.

I'm in a situation similar to OP.

What are some good updates to send to schools where we have been waitlisted at, assuming I am still an undergrad and probably don't have much new to add my last semester..? (I sent in fall grades and additional letters of rec back in January and am out of ideas for other things to communicate besides my continued interest).
