Hi all,

I'm just closing out my MS1 year, and have begun a Neuroscience segment that I will be in through June 3. The density of the material is intense! Do any of you out there have any recommended resources to help master Neuro? The neuroanatomy alone is pretty heavy, at least for my old brain (I'm a non-trad 41-year-old MS1). Every time I have to open my Gray's Neuroanatomy as well as The Developing Human I feel like a part of my own CNS dies.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated. 🙂

For me, who is finishing Neuro next week, Sketchy has been my main resource. I also supplement with Pixorize and then if all else fails, Picnomic. I even make my own “pics”. These are essentially memory palaces and cut my studying down by a third and helped me place high on exams. If I have time I’ll study with the Anking Anki deck that has tags sorted by class for my medical school.

What study style has been working for you? As a PGY13 who is currently relearning/refreshing all of the anatomy, origin, innervation of the muscles and nerves for a fellowship I'm applying for, I feel you. I spent time going through Gray's and made flash cards for each muscle, origin, insertion, and drew pictures for ones that I could. This act alone helps, but then I have my study source for later as well. I've downloaded some Anki decks regarding my topics and that seems to help some, but it doesn't stick quite as well as the written stuff for me. When I was doing neuroanatomy it seemed to be that the more repetition I had, the more it stuck. It sounds like you've got time, just keep at it, pick a section and go over it until it's cemented in. Go to the next section, review the first, 2nd, 3rd, etc. It's so much info, it just takes time. There's not an easy button that Ive found.
