So I am looking at separation from the Navy in 2011 but in a bit of a time "bind" as the programs I have interviewed with are "working out details". I realize that I should have applied to residency last year for a 2011 advanced start date. One program is looking at creating a spot for me but this would require ACGME approval and I have no idea how long this could take.
I have heard that you need to get your seperation letter in no later than 6 months before you get out but idealy 9-12 months beforehand. Has anyone had any nightmares with this...not allowed to separate, etc.
Anyway to streamline the process without jumping off the separation cliff in the event I need to extend a year to coorespond with a 2012 start date but be prepared to pull out?
Thanks.
