Any suggestions on good hotels for Harvard interview?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i stayed with a student and it was great. if you dont want to stay in vanderbilt (cause it's just tiny single dorm rooms) then contact someone on the list that lives OFF campus and you'll be fine. really, the students there are some of the nicest and coolest i've ever met.

I would also reccomend staying with a student. I stayed the next night at the Hilton @ Logan airport ($85), about ~20-30 mins. from the med school by the T (a very convenient and CHEAP way to get around Boston.)

Thanks for the help guys. Any advice for the interview?

Spider, when is your interview? I'm gonna be there on Feb 28. For now i have a reservation at the Ramada inn for 80 a night.

advice:

dont open the sealed manilla envelope with your name on it as soon as you enter the conference room. i did, and it contained my entire file for my interviewer. great way to start off a day at harvard!

choker- Your comments are always so funny. I hardly post on this board, but i'm more of a silent reader. It's nice to get some humor about med stuff from some of the more avid posters. <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

Thanks for the advice Choker, I may have done the same thing you did!

Bomback, I'm interviewing this Monday but good luck with your interview when you go. I ended up getting a place at the Beacon Inn which is a few T stops over for $80 as well.

Around Cambridge there are really no inexpensive hotels. Now, if money is not an object then you're in luck! There's the Cambridge Hotel, and a Hilton that's seconds away from Harvard square. You might also want to look into some bed and breakfasts (which MAY be slightly cheaper). If you go to Travelocity.com look for hotels in Cambridge (near MIT or Harvard) or the Back Bay or Beacon Hill part of Boston. They might cost an arm and a leg, but they are close to campus!
Hope this helps.

Spyder, if you want you can check on hotwire.com for some pretty cheap hotels. The site doesn't tell you the name and exact location of the hotel, but it tells you the star rating and the region it's in.

i stayed at teh buckminster. it was fairly cheap, had food nearby, and was in walking distance to the medical school. also had a hair dryer, iron and ironing board. aslo microwave adn fridge.

Unfortunately, the most convenient hotel, which is one block from the medical school, is not really cheap. It's a Best Western, and it's on Longwood, and if memory serves me it is like 140 dollars a night or something. But getting around Boston is pretty easy, so I'd suggest going someplace cheaper but farther away.
