Same here. My wife took it really hard at first. She was like "how dare they 😡 -"madrigail said:I was just a little bit dissapointed
Once she realized most everyone was waitlisted, she chilled 😎 some.
Does anyone have any idea as to what ETSU will do in terms of informing applicants? I remember them saying that we could expect a letter but I don't remember if they said they wouldn't send email or answer questions over the phone regarding acceptances/rejections. Has anyone asked them when they will send out letters for those who were waitlisted before Oct. 15h?

Well, my interview at ETSU was Oct. 4th and went REALLY well. Seeing as I'm out-of-state and my interviewer told me that only about 10% of their matriculation class is out-of-state, this puts me in a special category. What is good, though, is that the next adcom meeting isn't till Oct. 25th, so I'm not on the "automatic hold" list (yet).
Did anyone write thank-you notes to your interviewers?? I emailed asking for addresses and never heard back. I think I may just send them to the admissions office.

I guess that answers my question. No more decisions until the end of the month.OrnotMajestic said:the next adcom meeting isn't till Oct. 25th
I guess I'll have to wait and be 😎 about it. This is all one very big "learning curve" for most people. I guess if you have a friend or someone you know who has been through it before, they can coach you. Thankfully, we all have SDN
Just thought I'd update and say that I'm interviewing on November 4 at ETSU. Woohoo!
I'm looking forward to seeing the campus. I've been in and around Johnson City before, but I haven't been in Johnson City with the mission of seeing Johnson City and ETSU before.

Did someone (Ornotmajestic) say that the next adcom meeting was on the 25th? They like making people wait I suppose. So, if they have continued to interview throughout October, they should have a large pool to decide from next Monday. I suppose it helps them have a larger idea of what their pool will look like. If anyone hears from them, please let us all know.
Thanks!
Thanks!
So, ETSU met again yesterday. I suppose we should hear back from them later this week. I interviewed at UTMemphis and was super impressed by their clinicals. Their first two years seemed fairly dismal. They have had a curriculum change that hasn't been ironed out yet. All but one of the 2nd years I met were fairly unhappy with how things were going with their 2nd year but they were encouraging me that things would likely change by the time I came through. We'll see.
I got my invitation about 3 weeks ago. I had an email first and then later I got a package in the mail. The maps are aweful. You definitely need to drive around and find where you are going the night before. It was complicated to someone like me who hadn't been to Memphis since I was 12.
Email then admissions people, Nelson Strother or Diane Harris and ask them about an interview. There were only 5 people in my group.

Hey Geronimo, did you call or email them to see if you got an interview or did you just get the email wihtout any contact? I am tempted to call, but then that email telling us not to contact them keeps reminding me that I should not.
The results from the first round have been posted, so we should be receiving letters soon.

I have no idea...i'm just gonna be patient and wait for the letter.
Let's see... 534 out of state applications recieved, 378 rejected, 11 interviews granted, 4 acceptances. Let's hope I'm one of those 4.

To whoever cares
Memphis is not complicated, all roads are on a grid system. If you don't know your way around you can get yourself in serious trouble in a hurry, especially around the school and south of the school. Stay on Union or Poplar, they are safe and fairly speedy if not rush hour. Get a good Map 👍

ETSU Hopefuls,
Got this e-mail this morning; here's hoping you all get the same!
Happy Halloween,
Amy
This is to let you know that a certified letter is enroute to you from Dean
Ronald Franks of the Quillen College of Medicine. I now understand that these
letters were not posted until Wednesday and I hope this notification might help
you have a more pleasant weekend in case your letter is not delivered until
later. Congratulations and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

I also got the email. I can't imagine it being a "bad" letter after setting you up like that. It certainly could be inferred that we are no longer "waitlisted" b/c why would you send a letter that says you are "still" waitlisted. Perhaps if you didn't get this email, you are probably still waitlisted. Who knows!?! Anyway, I'm excited. This should be a fun trip or two to the mailbox.greglars said:I got this e-mail as well. Also, I called them yesterday and the secretary told me that a letter was in the mail, but that was all. It looks like this is going to be the good letter - I sure hope so.

I also got the email this morning at around 10:30, and when I got my mail today- lo and behold a certified letter announcing the acceptance. I guess they really did just want a larger applicant pool to choose from before they made any decisions. Good luck to all of you still waiting- I'm sure that your letters will be there very soon 🙂
woo hoo!!!!
woo hoo!!!!
Well, I got that email today too....AND my letter arrived today (and i'm in Oregon, go figure).
I GOT ACCEPTED!! Just as Geronimo said, I'm full of ETSU pride right now! :-D :-D I'm quite pleased right now. 🙂

Yeah, I had to sign for mine. I was in the middle of cutting my grass and the mail-lady drove up. I had to run inside and left the lawn be for a while. It is going to be a great weekend!greglars said:Geronimo and madrigail, did y'all have to sign for the certified letter? I'm surprised y'all got your letters today and yet mine did not come.

Geronimo said:Does anyone know "for certain" (100% sure) that ETSU is where they want to go? Anyone, mostly certain (90-99% sure). I'd say I'm in the mostly certain category?
Well, ETSU was my #2 choice behind my state school....so I'd say I'm 95% sure I'm going to ETSU as my state school is kinda weird, and still hasn't contacted me. PLUS, I really really really loved ETSU...so OHSU would have to really blow me away (and then accept me) for me to consider them.
I already mailed in my deposit. I'm planning on visiting the school again in a couple of weeks to take a "second look" when I'm not "so nervous." I actually wasn't overly nervous, I just have a friend who is considering ETSU and wanted to take the opportunity to split the costs of paying a second visit to the school with him.
I finally called ETSU yesterday to ask about the letter I never got. The lady there tracked it online and told me that supposedly they attempted to deliver it on Friday, but I never got anything. I was finally able to go pick it up today and find out for sure that I got accepted. It's my first one, so I'm pretty excited. Not sure how likely I am to matriculate there, however. I like the school, but I was more impressed with and interested in Dartmouth, so I think I'd pick it over ETSU right now.
Just got my secondary from ETSU Monday! Wew, only 21 days for this bad boy and need to get those evals filled out by professors 🙂 I am suprised ETSU doesn't get more applicants. I'm from instate except from the other end of the tennessee spectrum, Memphis, so are all you guys that are accepted already instaters?
BTW, how long after you submitted your secondary did it take for them to send an invite?

Yup, I was accepted last week...and I'm from instate.
From the time I sent in my secondary to the time I was offered an interview, I would say it was only about 2 weeks. Very very fast turn around time in my case. Has that been the case for you other acceptances?
Good luck on your interview- it's a very nice, laid back day 🙂 Be sure to bring all the questions you think you might have. I got a little nervous and forgot to ask some questions that I really wanted answers to. Luckily, tho, they have an "ask a student" page on their website that I found handy.

out-of-stater. From being complete to interview invite was about 3 weeks. The interview was relaxed, laid-back and rather easy and friendly.
Hey!
Have any of you guys that interviewed at Memphis heard back from them yet? I know the first committee meeting was supposed to be last Friday (10/29) and they also met on 11/5, so I was wondering if anyone had heard yay/nay/waitlist etc. (the suspense is killing me 🙂)
Thanks!

Okay guys,
No mail today- soooo, now is the time in which I contemplate calling over there and being like "wazzzup?" This whole "we'll let you know the week after you interview thing" was a total sham just to get our hopes up!
If anyone finds anything out, please let us all know 🙂
