Anybody have any thoughts about UMich, Tulane, and Temple. I am considering applying to these among others and was hoping for some stats or info about them. Thanks

Tulane doesn't follow any of the AMCAS rules...so apply super early, that will increase your odds. 👍

I'm not sure if I'm on target or not, but I have talked to toooo many people that say UMICH consist of gunners gunners gunners!! the worst that I have heard is that the class never sticks together nor do they help one another. now I really believe it all depends on the class you enter with, and that the information I received can't be accurate for the entire UMICH roster. who knows? like I always say, try to contact the schools or students to find out what the school is like, and get a feel for them if you can, they won't lie???? good luck to ya! I think I'm going to make an appointment to check the school out just so I can see for myself.

This is ridiculous. As a new entrant at UMich, I've talked to plenty of students who stress that the school fosters a non-competitive, friendly atmosphere. The first year is entirely pass/fail for just this reason. Furthermore, the people I've had an opportunity to meet, whether current students there or people who are coming in my class, all seem really chill, down to earth, and helpful. There's a difference between being a gunner and striving to do really well in school.

To the OP, give UMich a shot if you think you might be interested. I almost didn't apply cuz I'm not a Michigan resident, and I'm really glad that I did. UMich actually takes more non-residents than residents, and the school/hospital are awesome. As far as the other schools you mentioned, I don't know too much about 'em. Tulane's supposed to be pretty sweet, though. Best of luck to you as you apply.

Tulane is a fantastic place. Nobody has more laid back students...I don't think anyone that has visited Tulane would argue this point. We live in New Orleans...enough said.

Since nobody has mentioned Temple yet, I'll chime in with some words on that. If you don't mind going to the worst part of Philly for class and rounds then you should apply there because the clinical experience there is awesome. If however you don't like feeling like you'll be shot the second you step of the campus then don't bother. Also keep in mind that their facilities are pretty old and the school looked run down to me.
