I'm just curious, since I will be taking the DAT for the first time in May.

I am currently enrolled in Kaplan's DAT prep course. But due to homework, lab reports and midterm exams for my regular college courseload, I hardly have time to read all the materials in the Kaplan prep book. Same for the online Kaplan materials. Still have to catch-up on O-Chem lessons and a LOT of the quant analysis materials. :scared:

If you did re-take the test, did you study all day within the 90-day period?
Or did you invest more time into studying than the amount of time you've studied for the first exam? In other words if you've studied for two months for the first DAT exam, did you use three months to study for the second exam?

i recommend only taking the DAT when you are ready to destroy it.
push it back to august if you need more time to prepare...

i disagree......i took the DAT four times......did it suck yes.....i have never been that great at test taking.....but I got in!! so I would say take a whirl at it and then if you don't do well you can take it again....just my opinion

I took my test in August (the same month I sent in my application). I didn't do as well as I would have liked, so I retook it in December. (Pay attention to the deadline to take the test at each of the schools.)

I would take it early (July or earlier) just so you can get your application sent out and looked at. If they don't like what they see early on, they will run you through the cycle again and again. If you are not happy with your scores, you will have the chance to retake it and submit those scores to all the schools with a better chance of getting in.

If you feel like you know nothing, then don't waste your time or money. But, for the most part, it can't be a bad thing to give it a whirl and retry later if you are not happy.
