Do any of you guys have a good feeling about this cycle and will be demoralized if you don't even get an interview- like me?

I don't think that's false hope. It's just hope. And I suspect you're not alone in feeling that way. I'm sure nervous about the whole process!

I remember feeling that way last cycle. I handed in all of my primary stuff early..then my secondaries....then nothing. I received my first interview invite in October!

July, August, and September were very very painful where it seemed that all I could do was wait and worry.

Eventually I ended up with 3 acceptances and 1 waitlist. So anyways, just hang in there, it's almost never over until it's over, and the DO application cycle is a LOOOOOOOONG one 🙂

thanks for the encouragement!

I had that feeling as well. I didn't get any interviews until January. But after that I had a bunch come in. Hang in there. Let the waiting begin. I hope you are accepted to the school of your choice. Good Luck!!!:luck::luck::luck:

definitely hang in there, call your schools and check up on your app. make sure it's all in order and they're not "waiting" for something. my app got held up at one school because they were waiting for the secondary app check (it was caught on the bottom of the manila envelope, they found 1 mo later). I have classmates that got in the night before school started! they didn't even get a chance to move their stuff until later in the month. so keep your hopes up!!

seems like there might be a disadvantage to applying early- the wait....

Yes. I applied last year; didn't get a single interview. I did a lot of work to improve my stats this time around. I feel like I'm much more competitive now. Still...who knows what will happen. The waiting is killer...once the secondaries are in, it's not in my hands anymore...hate that feeling of no control.

I know exactly what you mean. In fact, I think it's a fairly common setup. That's why I think, in general, it's better to let go of hoping and expecting (or otherwise futurizing), if possible, during this process. Hope and expectation tend to take you away from the precious moment and are often the source of much pain, if things don't turn out the way you think they should. I know it's hard to do, given what seems to be at stake and the general gravity of the situation. Be here now and do the level best you can during each step of the process and see what happens. If you get accepted this time around, great. If not, regroup, fix what went awry, and try again. Work through it one breath at a time. Don't confuse your self-worth with the application process. You are not the outcome. 😉
