Have any of you received anything from NSU by mail after sending out your deposit and other fees to hold your seat? I sent out my $1,000 several weeks ago and completed my FAFSA application as well as NSU authorization form for financial aid/loan purposes. Now, I'm just wondering what's next.

No responses yet? :scared: Please, if you go to Nova or will be a student there in the fall, answer my post.

I haven't heard anything as of yet. I actually called a few days ago and they said I won't hear anything about the residency status till they have processed everyones. I also heard from other people that we won't hear anything else till June of July when we get the orientation information. I am not sure if thats true but thats all I know for now. By the way do you know when is the last day to do the FAFSA for nova? Isn't it always June 1st? I heard from someone that its April 12th. I asked this on another thread but no one answered.

Hey, I found out that the "priority deadline" for submitting your FAFSA application to NSU was April 15th for the currrent school year, 2007-2008. As for this year, I didn't see any date, but based on this school year, I would conclude that the priority deadline probably is April 12th. Even if April 12th is the priority deadline, it doesn't mean you cannot submit your FAFSA afterwards. What it does mean, however, is that you are limiting or decreasing your chances of receiving the maximum funds to finance your education if you submit past that date. Therefore, it's in your best interest if you submit your FAFSA prior to the April deadline if you want to qualify for as much aid as possible. I don't understand how we could receive all the information from Nova in July if we need to have certain requirements met such as housing deposits. I am freaking out because how can I ensure I will have my student loans and EVERYTHING paid for if loans are not disbursed until I'm actually in school? That means I have to pay a $500.00 fee out of pocket for the housing deposit and I don't really have much money right now. I have absolutely no idea how much I qualify for and do not know if I will need to proceed with private/alternative loans to finance my education. It doesn't seem reasonable to find everything out just before starting school when everything must be paid for. I'm so scared of things not working out and not being able to enroll because of financial issues. :scared:

I haven't heard anything else yet. But honestly, there's nothing else that we need right now, except for the financial information of course. As far as the loans, all loans that go thru a school always take at least 2 weeks after classes start for you to get any money back. If you're gonna live on campus, all you need is the housing deposit, because as long as your processing aid is fine, you won't have problems. What you might do is talk to someone from the Fin Aid Office at Nova and get estimates on the total costs, as well as any other expenses you will incur, then calculate how much federal aid you can get, and get the rest through a private loan. Or maybe even ask about the possibility of another option. Anyways, there's a facebook group, you should join. And if you hear anything new, please post it.

I called them to see when they would be sending out financial aid statements and they said my status is "conditionally admitted" and I wouldnt get my financial package until I'm officially admitted. Im still taking 1 pre-req this semester so that's why it's conditional as of now. I assume I wont hear about loans until at least may when my class is over.

Have you guys figured out what youre gonna do for housing? I dont know if its better to live on or off campus.

I'm going to live on campus because of convenience. I don't want to have the pressure of having to commute to campus or renting an apartment, even though I could split the expenses with a roommate. Living on campus provides you with the peace of mind in knowing that you're in school and you don't have to rush to get to class. I plan on selecting the cheapest dorm possible, which, from what i've heard, is about $3,060 per semester. In order to get a spot to live on campus, I have to send in my immunizations, pay a $500.00 deposit and complete some type of housing contract for the year.
