hI BLACK BEAR,
Try to get evaluation done again from WES because i have a friend who got 87 in part 1 but his gpa was 2.50 through ECE .
He didnt recieve any interview call but whn he got it done from WES it improved by few points.
Try to apply with a better gpa.

Howmuch did the GPA improve with WES ? Did your friend get admission/interviews to any college after that ? I appreciate your response.

hi ,
It became 3.25 but problem is that he took nbde1 again to improve his scores but his score decreased from 87 to 80 so he didnt apply again n continued with his masters.

Tinkle,

Could you inform me by sending a PM your exact percentage? I may be in position to give you advice......

Hope that helps.....

Thanks everybody for their replies.I sent my credentials to wes and it gave me almost the same GPA. WES also made many mistakes with my course names so I asked for a re-evaluation, and I am waiting for my new report to arrive.
I hope I can get a better GPA this time cause I really need an incentive to keep studing for the national dental board.
all the best for eveybody out there.

I have just received my report from wes,a great dissapointment again.
They keep making the same mistakes...putting funny names to my classes, I am so tired of them.
As an example..the english translation for spanish "Operatoria Dental y Endodoncia", is "OPERATIVE DENTISTRY AND ENDODONTICS", insted WES renamed it as Dental Surgery and Endodontics.... 😡 I am kind of upset with the service wes provides.
I will have to call wes again, and ask to speak with the translator.
Did anybody have a similar experience with WES?
Please share any comments

😡
In response to your experience, I believe WES is fully staffed by a bunch of idiots. Be very careful because they LIE a lot. My personal experience is in this Order: (1) WES received my documentation from my University and me on August 16. (2) WES emailed me saying they ?had received everything and my evaluation will be completed August 24.? So far everything is ok with me and WES. (2) One week later I received a letter via MAIL (snail mail) which was mailed to me on August 17, one day after they send me an email stating everything was in. When I sent my stuff in, WES was instructed to only contact me via Email or Cell Phone. This letter said that they had put me on hold because they were waiting on documentation. I called them and they said they had NOT receive my documentation from my University (3) After I called overseas and had the University track down the package, I was told that the packaged was receive by WES August 16. (The same day they emailed me) (4) I spent a week calling WES to look for my paperwork from my University. (5) One week latter WES ?admits? and ?confirms? that all my paper work did arrive on August 16. (6) After calling WES for over 3 weeks everyone who I have spoken to (4-5 people) put me on hold and then they tell me that someone will call me back. Lie, lie, and lie; only one person has called me a guy by the name of Joey. NO ONE KNOWS or they choose not to tell me what is going on with my stuff. I don?t know what is going on but I will call to complain with my Visa Credit Card, the better business bureau and everyone who will listen. Be very careful with these idiots. I hope everyone has better experiences than me with WES. 😡 😡 😡

Why did you use WES ,why not ECE??has a school specified WES as the credential evaluating service??
If not ,then i think ECE is very different, its organised and they mail you as soon as you ask them any doubts. So you could try them .Good luck, hope it all works out .

Hi BlackBear,
I was very dissapointed with ECE report when I too got an evaluation of less than 3 (2.4). Even my NBDE board score was uncompetetive (79) when I took it in 1999. I didnt get accepted in BU ofcourse and I didnt apply anywhere else either after that. With a GPA like that, I dont know if I will ever get a chance to go to an advanced standing program even if i do well in my boards since everyone seems to have a good GPA.

Hi, I am a little nervous , because I am about to get my GPA soon. But I think you shoul cheer up .Who knows maybe you get lucky.Don't loose hope

Thank you all for writting your past experiences. I am preparing to take the NDB 1 next month, trying to keep focus and get the best result.

Do you guys think that with a GPA of 2.40, 90 score NDB1, and a very good recoemndation letter from the orthodontic I am working for rigth now I would get an interview anywhere?

It is not easy to decide to spend all the money in applications and tests if I am not going to get an interview anywhere.
Any advices and comments will be appreciate.

ACTOOTH...Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with WES, thank You for sharing it, I feel less lonely in this incident with WES. Hope you all the best.

Hi, Black Bear. I'm in the same boat as you. I got an 82 in part 1 and my GPA is 2.5, tofel 260. I'm a bit concerned, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed, where did you go to school?

HI all,

I just wanted to let you know that I had a really low GPA 2.4 and I was devastated when I got my report.. I worked really hard in college, was at par with my fellow classmates but sometimes even at the top. the problem is our college doesnt give a GPA like many colleges in India and I had to apply to ECE for the evaluation. 5 years later, now in 2004, I decided I wanted to still go to grad school and was really concerned about my GPA. Since I had heard the WES evaluation may give a few points more, I decided to give my papers again fro evaluation. Although I would still be less than 3, I decided to atleast try to improve it..

Tears rolled down my eyes when I got my evaluation 3 weeks ago..I had a GPA of 3.19 in their evaluation! I was rejoicing and crying at the same time, since I had tried grad schools before , put in soo much effort, money and didnt get in the any of the good ones..I am sure, others in the pool might have had better NBDE, GREs but Im know my Low GPA must
have alerted them too..

I have always been hardworking, sincere, never skipped classes and studied thoroughly for exams so it was really heartbreaking to be judged by my GPA. I think its all God's grace and my prayers that my GPA is now so many points higher..

I am very optimistic now, preparing hard for my GRE and other parts of the application to get into a masters program. I know I would be a very good grad student.

I wish that all with low GPAs in college either due to carelessness or unfortunate circumstances would not lose hope. Prayers do count.

HI
I'm new here, and would like to share my experience with you guys.
I have a GPA of 2.8 I had it done by ECE, now if I do it by WES you think it would improve?
I Know my chances are very low, but I'll try.

I can understand your feeling, but sure there are ways. One of my friends Had a low GPA in B.D.S., he wanted to apply for either advance standing program or grad program. but Americans are innovative & Americans have solutions,so they advised him to take some courses in biology or micro so that they can add news marks to calculate gpa. This is what you can do,you figure out what courses that need to be improved so that you amy ask for improvement.

hope this might help.

Hello all,

Looks like its going to be difficult for me to get admission in dental college as my GPA (2.48) and NDB-1 score are too low.

I will be trying to improve my NDB-1 score in next attempt but not sure if its going to help me because of my low GPA.

I am also trying different options. I would appreciate if anybody could guide me suggeting different options.

The options I can think of are -
1) MS in Oral Pathalogy.
2) Dental Assistant.

Thanks,

😕

congratulations.
I wanted to know if WES considers nummber of attempts while calculating GPA ? ECE will consider every repeated course as a credit taken with a 0 score and thus my GPA was lower than expected. But I heard that with WES, the GPA will not go down because a course was repeated. Is that true ?
