I can understand your feeling, but sure there are ways. One of my friends Had a low GPA in B.D.S., he wanted to apply for either advance standing program or grad program. but Americans are innovative & Americans have solutions,so they advised him to take some courses in biology or micro so that they can add news marks to calculate gpa. This is what you can do,you figure out what courses that need to be improved so that you amy ask for improvement.
hope this might help.
I just wanted to let you know that I had a really low GPA 2.4 and I was devastated when I got my report.. I worked really hard in college, was at par with my fellow classmates but sometimes even at the top. the problem is our college doesnt give a GPA like many colleges in India and I had to apply to ECE for the evaluation. 5 years later, now in 2004, I decided I wanted to still go to grad school and was really concerned about my GPA. Since I had heard the WES evaluation may give a few points more, I decided to give my papers again fro evaluation. Although I would still be less than 3, I decided to atleast try to improve it..
Tears rolled down my eyes when I got my evaluation 3 weeks ago..I had a GPA of 3.19 in their evaluation! I was rejoicing and crying at the same time, since I had tried grad schools before , put in soo much effort, money and didnt get in the any of the good ones..I am sure, others in the pool might have had better NBDE, GREs but Im know my Low GPA must
have alerted them too..
I have always been hardworking, sincere, never skipped classes and studied thoroughly for exams so it was really heartbreaking to be judged by my GPA. I think its all God's grace and my prayers that my GPA is now so many points higher..
I am very optimistic now, preparing hard for my GRE and other parts of the application to get into a masters program. I know I would be a very good grad student.
I wish that all with low GPAs in college either due to carelessness or unfortunate circumstances would not lose hope. Prayers do count.
