Anyone else applying to University of Colorado?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats again to all of the incoming P1s!

My name is Shaun, I'm going to be a P2 and am interested in finding a room mate.

I live ~10 minutes from the campus, southbound in an apartment complex called the Westover Gardens. It's a nice place, rent is very reasonable and looking to find a cool room mate that isn't too loud... I drink on occasion and am totally open to that sort of lifestyle.

I think it would be a good opportunity to room with someone that has the experience and could be a great resource for the incoming class. Let me know!

Don't listen to anyone! Shaun is a great guy and one of my best friends here!

Thank you, Crystal! Pat, I'm not eating at JJ's with you ANYMORE!

so random question... what's the deal with the school's name? are we going to be UCD-SOP, UCAMC-SOP, or is it going to stay UCHSC-SOP for a while?

It's officially University of Colorado Denver School of Pharmacy. We are located not at the Downtown Campus but at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Typically though we just call it "school".

LOL! Badass

The naming issues is rather dumb. They just need to pick something and stick with it. Although I was reading in the campus paper that the state reps from Aurora are thinking about writing a bill to force the university to include Aurora in the name instead of just Denver.

Kind of like how the Los Angeles Angels are now the Los Angeles California Angels of Anaheim, Santa Ana, Long Beach, et al

The excitement of getting into SOP will soon drown and be replaced with a feeling of hatred ... :meanie:
I am sure all of the other current students will concur

Haha, hopefully it won't come to that. 😛

Getting poked so many times for immunizations is starting to get on my nerves though. That tetanus booster hurt for at least 4 days!

worse than the feeling of hatred from not getting in?

Just try to enjoy it. First year is not the greatest, but it's fun to meet new people and learn your way around a new city (that is if you are out-of-state like most of our class).

Somebody's grumpy from too much CPC. +pity+

Yeah, I agree - but I'd be feeling the same thing at pretty much any other school by about now.

Anyone 2012 people get a call from the school yesterday? They didn't leave a VM, just wondering.

No. Did you find out why they called? I can't think of any reason why they'd call now...?

Turns out it was the same prefix, but via some googling its a spammer.

Oh, and I feel your pain about shots. I just got the first of 3 Hep-B shots today along with the TB injection test.

What a couple days... I got titers done to see which vaccines I needed and proceeded to get a LOT of shots along with the TB test. So my arms were nice and achy for the CPR class yesterday.

Fun stuff 🙂 Only 3 months to go..

Did we have to register for classes or anything else? It's kinda late but I just thought about it tonight! Lol.. I don't remember anything about registering for classes being mentioned.. I assumed that the school is going to do it for us. Is that how it goes?

I just got done with everything on the acceptance checklist. Is there anything I'm missing? Just thought I'd ask while I'm waiting for more news from the school. When is a good time to buy books anyway?

I don't think we have to register since we're all going to have the same classes.

for folks who've sent their spring transcripts, what address did you send your transcripts to? I'm not sure if to send them to the office of the registrar, the office of student services, or admissions... ?

I think they go to OSS (student services). Your admission file is maintained there. They'd get lost if you sent them anywhere else.

I sent my transcripts to the address listed at the top of the admissions checklist letter. It's an address for student services. It seemed right to me.

When you start in the fall, they will have you register for skills. The class is divided into two sessions during the week. All of your other classes they register you for.

There sure are a lot of broken links on the UC SoP website, along with terribly out dated material. They should have spent some of those new building funds on better web integration!

So has anyone gotten anything from the school? Email? Phone call? Snail mail? The lack of any sort of communication from the school is somewhat unnerving.

I went down to the school today to turn my immunization form in by hand and just say hi. I met some great people in the administrative side of the SOP and the HSC in general. I even got them to give me my official student ID number. Makes me feel special 🙂

The jist I got from them is that when they need something they'll let you know. Most information will come once you either pay out of pocket for tuition (ha) or get your FAFSA in and accepted. Otherwise, they told me, I'm enrolled for Fall of 2008 as an incoming student and info will come in time for orientation/intro to pharmacy.

I second that. Hopefully some sort of welcome packet comes our way before summer is over.

How hard is it to get Colorado residency for in-state tuition? Just wondering if it's do-able by P2 year.. or P3 year..

It shouldn't be hard for you to do by P2 year, but during P1 year you need to give up all ties to your current State of residence. Register to vote, pay Colorado income taxes (or have your spouse do it), register your car and get a Colorado driver license. Here's a link to the Colorado Department of Higher Education document that talks about it:

Classification Guidelines

Heh, I wonder if they read this thread. I just got an email from them about this, lol.

Hi director Brunson!

Hey, hope everyone is having a good summer. Just wanted to say HI since this threads been pretty quiet. Just in case some didn't know, there seems to be a bit more action going on in the google group for our class.

I found out yesterday that I got pulled off the waitlist. So, if you are on the waitlist and haven't heard, there is still hope.

:soexcited:

Yay, congrats!! See you at the orientation. 🙂

I don't remember whether I got notification of the class schedules before orientation or not. This may not be news for any of you, but the class schedule is out for Fall Semester. I've posted a link to the Excel file at:

Pharm School Phun

The folder should be public. Let me know by PM if it isn't.

I just got called from the waitlist 2 days ago! I'm in! So much to do now though. I had already accepted a spot at Creighton in Nebraska and got my apartment all set up there... in the long run though, Denver will cost a lot less and I will be a lot closer to my family (one hour away instead of 10). Anything important I should know being a latecomer?

Twester-- Thanks for the schedule. We actually did get a copy of the P1 Fall schedule in a mailing a few weeks ago. Thanks anyways. 😀

Mangel-- Hmm.. CPR and First Aid certs? Can't really think of anything else.. Hope you have already mailed them your final transcripts and that sort of stuff. We have a google group too. You should definitely check it out; People post messages relatively frequently. What else... Our orientation is on Aug. 15th and the Intro to Pharm course begins the following Monday. There was a self-study assignment sent out via email as well. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Don't forget a TB test

I just got accepted last week and am trying to get everything done last minute. I'm really excited but kind of stressed. Do you have a link to the google group?
