AAaaaaahhhhhh!!! I am nervous for you. We're they polite? I am calling right now!!!!! Hopefully the movement isn't of the bowel variety.

she was polite. but let slip no indication of whether this was good or bad. just that i would be hearing something in 7-10 days cuz i live in california. so i said "there has been a decision made on my file" and she said "yes" and that was about it. then i pooped on the carpet.

Ugh. I am still under review, no decision has been made at this point. She said I will probably go up for review (again) in about a week.

Get some Febreeze and think positive thoughts although I am bummed that we probably won't be interviewing there at the same time.

HA! who knows if its an interview. they've sent out rejections. and if it IS an interview you better fly out, walk in with me to my interviews, flash the interviewers, shake their hands. then walk out. that will expedite their decision.

Yes! I must head home now to pick out the perfect tassles....

BTW: Anybody seen "Murderball"? Way better than the Olympics, man.

yes, I liked it. (and recommend it for other people who may not trust gd.) But I saw curling yesterday and I watched it for like 2 hours and I still don't understand it. Nothing could be better than that. Seriously.
I want to see Millions. It's directed by the same guy who directed trainspotting. except it's not about heroin. And there's probably other stuff that's different, too.

I watched curling too. Strange. Better than the last summer Olympics when my hubby and I were piss-drunk watching Trampoline and I am yelling at him to put the Olympics on and he's yelling back "This IS the Olympics! Trampoline is in the f-'n Olympics!"

Say jebus, is there some sort of secret thread posted somewhere about reasons not to trust me? Curses, those high school rumors never die!!!

"March of the Penguins" is on the docket for tonight as well as Cross-Country Snowball Fighting.

Whoa. This thread is like the Twilight Zone- I expected it to be this lame-o downer SDN gunner thing, and then all my favorite people are kickin' it talking about cool ****.
Sweet.

It's Friday night and I am taking it easy. Had my initial Patron sipping worship and have moved on to a glass of red. My buddies are all doing some god-awful boating trip in snow (nope, don't need that) tomorrow, or they're getting back from this or that conference. I hate Sacramento, and I might have to head towards Tahoe later if the snow is lightening up manana.

What ever happened with GW, Mota? (I've been living in a cave lately, I swear).

they rejected me. but i just know that a secretary pocketed my picture and took it home for those "lonely times". that dirty dirty secretary.

I've always wondered what happens to our pictures. Now I know.... 😱

Bad, bad, naughty, definitely.

It's Saturday morning and I'm cracking myself out with Peets Coffee right now. There's an empty wine glass and a nearly empty bottle of Pinot that attests to my lonely rager last night- just me and the 40 year-old virgin and the internet. Today's more fun- if Tahoe wasn't a huge collective blizzard, I'd be up there, but instead I'm going to go hang out with buddies in SF, buy some new shoes, visit Good Vibes (hey, it's health, and better than the drama of breakup sex), and watch my friend Mike finish in the Napa Marathon. He used to sit behind me in 4th grade and poke me repeatedly in the back with a pencil. We used to have competitions on who could read the most Stephen King novels in a year - yeah, my parents loved that one, but they couldn't justify telling me not to read... that was a fun quandary for them.
I could have gone boating this weekend, but it's snowing. Even with a dry top, that doesn't sound like fun to me right now.

What are you guys up to?

I am sitting here in my pajamas with a sprite and pretzels... I had my interview at my top choice the day before yesterday and I felt really weird- so tired and headachey. Now, I know why- I guess I should have gotten the flu shot... At least this explains why I was having trouble formulating answers to basic questions like "Why do you want to be a doctor?"

Since we're in a question-y mood: In an interview, I'm sitting there, answering questions. I've got a good back and forth going on between the interviewer and myself. I'm relatively content. Then....
My balls itch. Do I scratch them? Do I allow it to continue to itch, gnawing on my conscience, boring a (figurative) hole in sack and my brain, allow it sap my energy and my focus? If I scratch them, how do I scratch them? There's nothing discrete about scratching balls, let's face it. Do I just get it over with, scratch them in one fell swoop, like pulling off a band-aid?
Now, your next smart ass comment will be along the lines of, "Why do your balls itch so much in the first place?" Don't judge me, I was once like you.

Jebus, just tell em your balls itch and to excuse you for a moment. Then turn your back to them, scratch your balls, and resume the rapport.

So it is Saturday night and I am in my parents' basement in Chicago (here for my Rush interview on Monday). My son is sick, but of course I dragged his butt on a plane to infect everyone on Frontier Flight 523 (soon to be a WB movie of the week). It is always weird being home. I get along great with my parents--much more like friends parents--but there really is no "sign" of me anywhere in the house. My sister is in college but still has her room, but with the exception of some high school photos of me with my Jersey hair, it would appear as though I never lived here. What's the prupose of going home if not to look thorugh old things and remember why it is so nice to be on your own in the first place? Plus, they don't really drink, so I am having sparkling grape juice on a Saturday night. People described hell to me (after they told me I was going there) and I envision a lot of sparkling grape juice on Saturday nights.

GD, have fun at your Rush interview. You seem to be pretty successful at these things and I'm pretty sure it's not luck.

Thanks Jebus. It's not luck, but it does involve taking my shirt off.

The important thing is that you earn it.
You heard Three 6 Mafia, it's hard out there for a pimp. How you fit into that is beyond me.

Holy crap! I felt the same way too. I found the film to be more like an ABC After School Special: trite, contrived, and anecdotal. Whoops! I hit enter before I was done! I understand that racial tensions are like a powder keg, but the dialogue in that film was bad. I thought Ryann Philippe character was the most realistic and understated.

But I thought Murderball should have been nominated for BP, and I don't live in LA so what the hell do I know.

ps. someone f*cking help me out with this thread. i feel like i'm resuscitating a dead person.

My word of the day is
crapulous. \KRAP-yuh-lus\, adj:
Sick from, or marked by, excessive drinking.
Crapulous is from Late Latin crapulosus, from Latin crapula; from Greek kraipale.

I immediately thought "craptaculous".

Hi.
Um, sorry to be posting this so late in the thread. I was cruising around SDN while waiting for match day and realized that we have a lot in common (from Colorado, want to be a doctor, have a child) so I thought I'd put two cents in, as I'm four years ahead of you all.
It's always refreshing to read posts from people who are about to start school as opposed to those of us who are almost finished, but literally sick worrying about where we matched for residency. You see, it never stops.
I just wanted to tell you all to chill. Okay, so you might not get into Colorado (I didn't, but I did get into a better school), so what? If you really really really want to be a doc, you will move, you will do research, network, whatever it takes. Don't limit yourself and don't go to the Carribean. It makes life much more difficult later when you're trying to get a residency. I'm going to be interviewing candidates tomorrow who'll have a fine chance of getting in. Maybe off the wait list, but you'd be surprised how many people get in to great schools this way. Don't count yourself out until you've gotten your last rejection letter in July, and then try again next year if you still want it.
Until then, enjoy this time. Really, I mean it. Opportunities to enjoy life (say, a day in the park without worrying about the exam or rotation the next day) become few and far between once you get in. Well, until fourth year anyway.
This goes double for those with rugrats. And if you are worried - yes, you can get through medical school with marriage intact and (a) well-adjusted (child) children. You just have to prioritize - been there, done that. Okay, enough preaching. I'm just trying to ease worry where I can. Somehow it helps me put my own torment into perspective. If you need any advice, encouragement, whatever, PM me. I'll be happy to help.
OH yeah - congratulations to those of you who are already accepted!

the past was pretty cool too.

Wrong link, I think. but I will search You Tube myself.

HA!!! that's super funny. Reminds of the book "Sellevision" by Augusten Burroughs. Soooo funny. Well. I better get back to my porno.

Guys. I am super sick today. I have a horrible cold. I bought some of the Mucinex, because everyone raves about it so will see if it works. Maybe it's the avian flu. I coughed up this huge lugey in the shower this morning that was a brownish green color. There is no dignity in a cold.
