I'm on Alternate Lists/WL at my three top schools - Jeff(AL), Rochester(WL), Wake Forest (AL). Other than that it's all rejections and wait-and-sees.

Anyone else on Alternate/Wait Lists? Isn't this frustrating?

What's it take to get an acceptance?? Tips on Moving up?

Send alluring pictures of yourself to the director of admissions.

...or send update/intent letters, either way.

I know how you feel, all I got is WL and rejections too. I didn't get any interviews from those school that put you on WL. Oh well, I guess we just have to wait, and maybe send a letter out next early next year.

Yes, all I have are waitlists and rejections. I am really feeling demoralized.

I have a crapload of hold for interviews.

At interviews, adcoms have told me showing interesting/sending a letter of intent is important to them.

i am also a member of the "only waitlists and rejections" club.

Had 5 interviews last month and only heard from one of them with a wait list. Booooooo 🙁

Anyone have an idea as to when to send a letter of interest? I was going to hold off until after the new year. I'll have my thesis complete by then and hopefully be doing some volunteer work...

I'd send a letter of interest whenever you get the chance. Anyone want to start a list of what to put in a letter of interest? Here's what I've got so far:

I'm writing to reiterate my strong interest . . .
I am interested in your school because . . . (environment, access to faculty/reasearch opps/specific teaching hospitals, school size, location)
I noticed x in the news recently and it reaffirmed my interest . . . (news item from school website)
I would be an excellent fit here because . . .

What else?

I would list anything else going on that they don't already know about (coursework, job, ECs).

I honestly think that I would feel more comfortable waiting until I have something more to say about myself. I've already addressed why I want to go to that particular institution in my interview.

Or maybe I'm just being lazy...
