I am, a bit nerve wracking. Wondering if anyone else ever did and how it went.

I really don't want to move and I probably wouldn't be able to afford it either. Not to mention having to take more pre-reqs. I think my chances at my current school are good enough to take such a risk but still feel moderatley uncomfortable doing so.

I only applied to one school because I refused to pay out of state tuition.

Expect to consume large amounts of alcohol during the wait time.

I should have applied to more, but it does come down to cost (it would be my first choice regardless). I think I have a fair chance but I wont know for a few weeks what side of fair I end up on. I can't afford out of state tuition. In-state is going to be expensive enough. However if it takes two application sessions for me and I end up only in an out state situation I'll make it work. We've got two kidneys for a reason right?

Two or twenty, I'd still be nervous.

Yep, I just applied to one school and I got accepted. I made sure I networked as much as possible and maximized my chances since it was an in-state school. Since I own my home and can't really afford to move or an out-of-state tuition, it wasn't really much of a discussion for me. Furthermore, if you are confident in your chances, then 1 school with possibly one backup is all you need to apply, but that's just my opinion.

Yup. I sent one application to one school, got one interview, and then got one acceptance last year.

I only applied to one school this year as it was a choice between finishing pre-reqs for other schools and applying to multiple schools and not finishing my degree or finishing my degree and applying to one school that I would have the prereqs done for. I chose the latter. Unfortunately, despite pretty decent stats, I'm wait-listed and looking at a long year ahead. 🙁

I did that last year and it failed.

This year I am broadening my horizons to a whopping total of two schools 😎

I'm in the same boat. It's in the best interest of the family to stay local. I would only move if I were accepted at the pharmacy program in Charleston, SC.

For now... the wait...

I second the copious amounts of alcohol.

I would third on the alcohol but EtOH makes me so tired and sleepy. I think my liver is innately small

I only applied to one school and I was accepted. I agree with what deacrx has to say. It is very important to network and stay in touch with your school of choice throughout the process. It makes the process less strenuous and once the interview day comes you feel very comfortable because you already know at least a couple of people once you arrive.

I can relate to what you guys are saying. I applied to one school and I’m keeping my fingers cross. If I don’t get in then that’s ok because ill apply to about 10 schools next year. And like one person was saying it’s really nerve wrecking when you sit and wait until you get a letter in the mail. I think that whether or not we get in we all still end up winners because 1. If you don’t get in at least you know that you have to apply to a lot more schools & 2. if you do get in, lol, then you’re in. Anyways good luck to everyone please post when you get into your school.

I can understand your situation as i applied to only one school. Nyways all the best to everyone 🙂

I have to be honest: I consider it a foolish move on my part and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. I feel competitive as an applicant, but if I don't get in, I'll have no one to blame but myself and I won't feel like a winner.

If you don't feel POSITIVE you meet AND exceed all the criteria necessary to get into a particular pharmacy school, then play the field.

Otherwise you're stuck here posting with us pre-pharmers for another year. 😛

I was kind of feeling the same way you do. I feel very competitive to Pitt, which is where I really want to go for many reasons. I'm pretty grounded in Pittsburgh with my business and just don't want to move anywhere else. By really focusin on Pitt I did everything I could do to get accepted there. On the other hand, people who apply to a ton of colleges really don't have a specific focus.

This is how I focused on PITT:

-scheduled a meeting with the Person in charge of admissions to answer questions.
-she said email me if you have questions after the meeting. I did this just so she would remember who I was.
-went down to Pitt Pharm for a tour of the college over the summer.
-I curtailed my Pharmcas essay to what Pitt was looking for. They wanted a unique essay, not a cookie cutter blah blah blah essay, and I think I gave them a very unique essay. This maybe not what other colleges are looking for, but its what pitt wanted.
-when I interview the person in charge of admissions she actually recognized me and we had a conversation. She didn't know many of the other people being interviewed.

Hopefully all this pays off.

I did though decide to apply to the LECOM's as back-ups just incase.
