UH is a competitive school and not everyone applying will get in (last year ~800 poeple applying for 125 spots). It's just as competitive as Tech and UT are. The incarnate world school has not been fully accredited yet and that's why it's a bit easier. For UH, pcat and gpa are very important. Usually, if your pcat is below 80, it's pretty tough to stay within the game so the higher you can get for these 2 criteria (gpa, pcat), the better. They only consider the latest pcat, that's a relief! So if your pcat is below 80, retake it and ace it! Also, if you can get a bachelor before hand, do so (last year almost 50% of people getting in have BS or higher already). The interview is also important (espcially your professor interview and the essay). You've been through the process, so you know already how it works so keep practicing on that type of essay format (using 1000$ for 2 purposes) and prepare for next year then. They don't care much about the stuff you sent in through email. Those are just to provide your interviewer a bit of background about you. What they'll care and "grade" is the one you wrote when you were there! (This is what Paige Pitman told me). so
-pump up gpa, pcat
-prep carefully for the professor interview and the essay portion of the interview
-If you haven't get any experience in the pharmacy field, do so during this year. If you've had already and are able to get more, do so also.
-Remember you have an adavantage that you already know the sequence of the interview. It'll be the same next year just with different content (the group exercise, the professor interview,...) so all you have to do is to practice and practice and practice...
-I'll start Uh pharmschool this Fall 2007 (it's my top choice among 4 other schools that accepted me), if you ahve any questions, don't hesitate to PM me ok? Sorry for your rejection and good luck with your reapplication next year. Don't get discouraged, consider this a learning experience for a better result next year ok?
hi just out of curiosity, did anyone receive denial letters yet? i'm just confused because my letter was mailed to another address, and I've just received a message that I've been denied. Also any suggestions on reapplying?
