what is fluff?

what is fluff?

Fluff classes make the classes you take seem like a full load when you actually spend 1 hour a week studying for each of them. That is fluff. 😀

american culture 200 The academic paradox. the definition of fluff, but one of my favorite professors at Michigan and a captivating subject-matter.

oh sure ... personal health, drug education, human sexuality, might take creative dance

Ceramics, Fly tying and Fly casting, personal health, weight training, etc. I don't really consider them fluff though when they are accompanied by 14 hours of science credits and aren't inflating my gpa.

Ok, those don't count because if I am not mistaken, those don't have letter grades...

Absolutely! I haven't really caught on to these "fluff" classes until this summer/ upcoming school year. I'm taking a few to just help raise my overall GPA. They're classes I've always been interested in taking (mostly easier psych classes) that I know don't require much study time. I don't think there's any shame in it. Even if you're not taking them to just raise your GPA, taking classes you're really interested in that aren't required for dental school may actually be a stress reliever. I don't know..just a thought. 🙂

Issues in sports. It's an exit class so I do have to take it...

"Leisure & Quality of Life". I got an A+.

imo its hard to take fluff classes as a biology major trying to complete in 4 years, although I did manage to squeeze in interpersonal communication which was a total joke compared to.....ANYTHING!

I definitely don't blame you. lol

Jewelry Making helps with hand skills and (hopefully) will be an easy A lol. Though my AADSAS is submitted already and my grades don't technically matter, but if you're looking for a fluff class that actually will help with dental school, that would be it.

I like to consider "fluff" classes, as those "adding to the diversity of my knowledge".

Zen Buddhism, Conversational Chinese, Introduction to Prehistoric Archaeology, Women in French Cinema, to name a few...

They do have a letter grade. They don't inflate my GPA because my cumulative is still a 4.0.

I took these online: Modern concepts in nutrition, epidemiology, US Healthcare Systems, medical terminology

these are fluff disguised as health related courses!

I took plenty, to boost my BCP...

but in the end a good amount of them ended off really paying off.... Animal Behavior (never even had to look over classical/operant conditioning for DATs) Ecology (didnt even touch his in my studying) and Evolution (also didnt have to study for DAT).. so in the end it worked out

economics, accounting.....yeahhh.

I was a business major for a little bit. You could probably consider all of those classes fluff classes.

I know, can't wait for the 1st game. To bad I have a dental anatomy test ad practical that following week. Oh well, I'm still going.😀

Sorry for the slight hijack.

I took Color & Design and Visual Communications... got an A in both. I love my art classes and have made some pretty great work in them. Taking two more next semester- Drawing and Art&Design for the Web. Also, took Intro to CJ last semester.

biophysics...tough name, easy grade

My school, unfortunately, doesn't have many fluff classes. Even intro classes are challenging. I've been wanting to take a couple art classes, but I'm afraid of killing my grade.

Where online did you take those classes?

My school has a Harry Potter class being offered this fall.

I'm not taking it, nor am I planning on taking it...but I just thought it was funny lol.

Dang patchjoe, I'm jealous. That's a sweet semester. How come you didn't beerpong instead of karate? 😀

Biology 101 for NON-science majors, during my senior year along with my other senior level classes. Dental schools didn't even bat an eye, although I'm sure they must have noticed.

I have a minor in fluff (every business class I've ever taken)
