I just got the same email that i was on hold until further notice. How many people got this and later received an interview?? ohh well i'll take it as a rejection for now.

Yea, I'm already there . . . GW was my top choice- pretty sad-most of my undergrad friends go to GWSOM so this is quite horrible . . .

btw, the email says 'Some in this group WILL be offered interviews." should I let that give me false hope?

Relax, guys. Getting an acceptance at GW is practically like winning the lottery - they are expecting well over 10,000 applicants this year! I was told at my interview day that they already had almost 8,000 apps and were expecting at least a couple thousand more due to August MCATers. Remember to stay positive!

This process cannot be predicted. Getting one at one place doesn't equal anything anywhere else.

I received the "EMAIL" as well, more disappointed than I anticipated, because a hold at GW is equals thanks for the money and see u later.... never... oh well, with this rejection, I will go for broke today and ask the cute personal trainer at my gym out for drinks... my day has already sinked to a new 52 week low, so it cannot go that much lower......

I can't BELIEVE I got a put on hold email! I got interviews at Georgetown, Mayo, Baylor, and Dartmouth (sorry, this isn't mean to be a gloating post), and these a$$holes put me on hold?!?!

Ok I'm done venting. This goes to show two very important things: 1. how incredibly random, random, random this process is, and 2. thank god I applied to tons of schools!

Anyway, I'm in the same boat as ya'all; but whatever, I'll take Georgetown over GW any freaking day!

oh yeah? i can beat that. this has been the worst day ever. Some guy was standing behind me on the train today and trying to... you know! I was so freaking pissed off. The train was crowded and I couldnt even move out of the way. I cant believe there are men out there doing this... But I guess I would take a groping anytime for GW interview! Gosh, this stinks. 🙁 🙁 🙁

If you have an ultra-competitive application, they might not want to waste their time on you (seeing as you'll get acceptances at better schools). I think you should also tone down the cockiness a little bit; some people on this board might really want to go to a school like GW.

My 2nd rejection. I feel real bummed out. First GT then GW, all schools in my area. Next will be UMD then VCU. I was hoping my interviews would be in close proximity, but it probably won't happen.

Hey- to come to your defense, I wouldnt jump down this guy's throat as being so cocky. Shouldnt it make people on here feel better to know that extremely well qualified students are getting the "hold" too? Personally, knowing that it's so random makes me feel a hell of a lot better.

i'm pretty sure gw always ends up interviewing some of the on-hold people in march/april. so, you definitely can't say that you've been rejected at this point. check out last year's threads about gw and i'm sure you can find out about being on hold and getting interviewed. good luck, keep your chins up.

I think we're all forgetting that GW sees the other schools you apply to. If you're applying to them as a "safety" school I think they can tell. Therefore, they don't want to interview you if they think you have a good chance to go somewhere else/better. I was bumbed for a few minutes because I thought "if my safety is putting me on hold, then i def don't have a chance going to higher ranked schools." I don't think that's the case though.... or maybe that's my ego protecting my heart 🙂.

Your AMCAS app shows the schools you applied too. If in your list is harvard, yale, johns hopkins, baylor....etc and your grades/mcat scores are competitive for those colleges then gw has no chance at getting you if they accept you. Unless someone here got an interview with high gpa and mcat score.... i'll wait for a contradiction before my feelings are hurt 😉

Med schools don't see our school lists. On the last page of the AMCAS app, it says: "The list of your designated medical schools is provided here for your information. The schools to which you apply do not receive such a list of all schools you have designated."
