Anyone Else With 30+ MCAT Not Getting Any Love From Drexel?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm over 30 in both age and MCAT, and I ain't gettin' no love from anybody😀 !

Don't worry LifetimeDoc. It looks like you didn't submit a bunch of secondaries until November, so they probably just havn't gotten to them yet. I bet you will start to hear this month or definitely in January. Good luck!

You bring up a good point in that the < 30 group activity would be really informative too.

yes, this is true.

i have yet to hear anything, and i submitted the first day i got it (AUG 8). 😱
i am applying md/phd, though, so i'll give them the benefit of the doubt that it probably takes a lot longer for both offices to review those apps. they did tell me in november that they were still reviewing my app.

:luck: LifetimeDoc!!

How about some bumpage for those of us waiting to hear a decision 🙂 I know that realistically I should not expect to hear until January (interviewed first part of December), but I have heard of some decisions being made and mailed out in two weeks, which could mean I might hear by New Years! 😱 Unlikely I know, but its possibilities like these that keep our nerves on edge. Drexel, if your reading this ... I love you. 😍

😀

Similarly anxious about quick response time from Stony Brook (been known to happen in a week!) and Pitt (four weeks). Silly nerves.

Still though, Drexel? If you're still even considering my app, could you show me a sign? Or Temple? Jeff?

Luck Haemy! :luck: :luck: :luck:

I agree...drexel? Temple? Jefferson? Penn state? UPenn?

Has the state of Penn ceased to exist????????

Lol, I hope not since I live in the Northeast corner of it and curl up wondering about the med schools around me lots of nights with Jefferson being just a brisk walk away!

I just got some love from them. 😍

I'll defend Drexel a bit. They told me three weeks after my interview they would make a decision and they did (I called. They won't tell you the decision over the phone). However, it took another 1.5nerve racking weeks for me to get the mail and final decision.

11/14 Interview

12/7 Called Drexel and told decision was made but they could not tell me over the phone (however, my acceptance letter states a decision was made on 12/12 ?)

12/18 Acceptance in mail received

Good luck guys :luck: :luck:

Did the acceptance appear on your status page before you got the letteR?

still waiting for interview... 3.7 gpa, 35 mcat. and i sent it in end of aug... what the hell...

just wanted to let you guys who are dying because drexel hasn't contacted you in over 2 months to not worry that much (because i was freaking out/getting very depressed) - it doesn't mean you're getting waitlisted or rejected. i remember reading on either this thread or another one about drexel how poeple were worried that acceptances were coming out sooner and waitlists/rejections were coming out very late. i interviewed on 10.16 and my acceptance date was 12.12 and i recieved the letter on 12.20. so please dont worry!! i really hope you all hear great news soon. best of luck!!!!

I just interviewed there on the 1st of December. We'll see...though now i know to be patient.

btw, 33, 3.5 for reference

Anyone UNDER 30 GETTING love from Drexel?

I have, I'll contribute. Invited for interview about a month after complete 😀. 27r, 3.5 (top school), very good ECs (what are saving my application), in-state (I know they give preference to PA pple).

i have a somewhat similar background and I haven't heard anything. 30mcat, chem eng, nontrad, lots of work experience in biotech.

at what point does one throw in the towel if they're not hearing *anything* from any school??

stick a fork in me, because i think i'm done.

I just got some love from them. 😍

Well, the good news is that if the schools is still open, the AdCom meets this afternoon. 😀 But the news won't be processed by the office until after Christmas and will take a couple days to get mailed out probably. But hey, just think about the possibility that you could find out something by the end of the year! (or even by the end of this week if they decided on you last Thursday.) 😉

bump

Still no Temple, Jefferson, or Drexel news...Come on Philly!!! 😳 :scared:

I know that Drexel interviews go by the mail.

Not too fond of Jefferson because even to this day, I've never received their rejection letter (and I've already completed half a year of med school somewhere else). Maybe I'm still under consideration for the 2006 cycle

Bah, Drexel's website is down! And here I was thinking thinking they might have updated my page and extended and invite at 5:50 AM.... Pffff

That really sucks. Even if it's a "Dear Applicant" form letter, the least they can do is send you a friggin letter.

I agree. I have heard that Jefferson is really bad about letting applicants know when they are rejected.

I interviewed early December and have not heard anything yet (not really expecting it because it hasn't yet been 6 weeks, but one can still hope. Good luck to everyone in this new year!

My applications to all the Philly schools were finalized by the end of July. I have a 4.0 and a 30R. And up until yesterday, I hadn't heard a thing. I just got an interview from Drexel last night, but this whole thing is so crazy. My friend who took the MCATs in April and was scheduled to re-take them in August because of a 29, got an interview from Temple BEFORE HE RE-TOOK THEM!
Philly hates me.

Just goes to show what a crapshoot this whole process is. I saw someone post who got in to Drexel with a 28 MCAT and 3.5 GPA and who was complete later than you.

And please don't anyone give me the "it's more than just the numbers" response. I've seen plenty of folks admitted to schools where their credentials beyond the numbers weren't particularly stellar.

It's a crapshoot. Whether your file is the first one reviewed in the morning or the last of 48 files the reviewer looked at that day probably has as much to do with whether or not you get an interview as anything contained in your file.

Does anyone know whether a Drexel acceptance letter comes in a big fat envelope or just a regular envelope? I'm just trying to prepare myself for looking into the mailbox. I would hate to see a little envelope and get crushed for no reason. 😉
