Anyone Else With 30+ MCAT Not Getting Any Love From Drexel?

OK. From your comments, and the number of posts you and Haemulon have, I thought you guys were going through the process another time like me. I wasn't going to do it a second time, but I figured ... WTF! I'm only 22 and I didn't want to be sitting in some lame-ass job wondering, "What if?"

Good choice. I don't want to have any regrets either. I'm already 30, so my time issues are more of a concern, but I will still give it another try if I don't succeed this cycle. Good luck!
 
No luck from Drexel yet. Just called and the very nice lady say yes they are meeting today but don't know if they will get to my file today. If they do, the office will know of the decision by Tuesday. I'm callin again later today, lol.

Good luck! At least you know you're getting to the top of the pile. Is Drexel your number one choice?
 
I sent in my stuff mid sept, but my application status is still incomplete. called today and got a real person in two rings... good times. well, everything is square now.
 
Check your status pages again guys. I got the link to schedule an interview today on mine. But no email beforehand, just a confirmation email after I scheduled. Btw, has anyone interviewed on a Saturday? What was that like?
 
BS, just called again and a different person answered this time. I asked the exact same question and the guy goes "Oh they don't bring that information down to us." I go "oh no, I don't mean the actual decision, I mean could you tell me if my file has been reviewed yet or not." "Yea, we don't get any of that information. They make the decisions then send them right out to you."

"Ok thanks, bye"

"mm hmm!"

I signed up for a Sat too, no idea what it will be like ... but it fit into my schedule perfectly. Which one did you choose?
 
12/9. It was the only one that was open for me. I just thought that since I've missed so many days of work (and spent so many saturdays in the office) that it would be nice not to have to worry about that.
When are you interviewing?
 
Applied last year through a linkage, but did not get a high enough MCAT to get in. Ended up with a 3.7 and a 31 on August MCAT. My application was complete with AMCAS and I got an interview invite a couple of days later. It pays to stay in touch with them for a year.

That sucks. You need to get that first lady back on the phone. :laugh: Typical Drexel admissions office experience, however. Happened all the time last year. Ask 4 different people in the admissions the same question, get 4 different answers.

I'll see you there! We'll have to PM before hand. Looks like our apps are fairly comperable too, even applying to several of the same schools.

Edit: Wow, just noticed that our birthdays are almost the same too. :laugh:

Good luck, guys. Didn't know they had Saturday interviews. I suppose that's pretty convenient for those out of school and working.

What ever you do, make sure you learn the Philadelphia pronunciation of "Drexel" before the interview.

Yes. Locally, it's pronouced "Temple." So, make sure you pronounce it correctly when you tell them what your first choice of school is, etc. :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

So if the AdCom meets only one random Thursday each month, does that mean you might have to wait another month before they even get to your file??? That really sucks. For the number of people Drexel interviews, I'm surprised they don't meet more frequently.

ahh i sure as hell hope not! my interviewer said in the next 2 weeks, so i trust her 🙂

just totally realized that next Thursday is Thanksgiving. Damn you pilgrims.

p.s. just called again and the nice lady said no decision yet! oh well, i'm gonna stop complaining bout my situation on this board from now on =).

Well, if they only meet once a month what difference does that make? Besides, I dont' think I would want them looking at my file on "Turkey" day. :laugh:

Ditto. Still one interview, now two rejections, and still no word from Philly schools. Come on Philly! End the torture...grumble...Okay, enough self-loathing.

Resurrecting this thread from the bowels of page 3.

I know someone commented on this before, but I am amazed that Drexel has been interviewing - apparently 5/6 days a week - since September and there have been only three acceptances reported on SDN. On the flip side, I've only read about 2-3 people waitlisted and only one outright rejection. Given that they must have interviewed around 200 people by now, I guess SDN'ers really are only a small percentage of pre-meds.

Come on Drexel, give me some love!!!!!!!!

What do you all know about the clinical assignments for M3 and M4? I have heard that assignment of location is more or less random, and one could end up as far as Pittsburgh or as close as Hahnemen for any given rotation? I wonder what the process is?
 
I just got my acceptance in the mail today; my interview was on 10/23, so if you're still waiting, check your mail box!

what date was the letter postmarked? i interviewed in early october and no word yet... i live across the country though, so maybe it'll take the mail longer to reach?

who knows... i just want to hear back!
 
YEa I interviewd 10/19 and just had my mom check my mail and nothing! Are you from PA?
 
So... had the interview. It was pretty good. The students seem really, really nice. :horns: Overall, it was a pretty decent experience. I'm really liking these low-stress interviews.

I'm a little sad that I had to miss the PIL info session, but I would have had to wait like another 1:15 afterwards for the next R8 train... I barely made the 2:01 as is.
 
Don't know what day it was postmarked, because it got sent home. Will let you know as soon as I see it. Also, I'm from NY.

You didn't miss much--it amounted to the retiring director of the program asking us if we had any questions, and it lasted about 15 minutes.

I interviewed 10/13, live in PA and have not heard anything yet... so I have no idea what the method to the madness is! Good luck 🙂

I had my interview at the beginning of October and was told 2-3 weeks for a decision. Over 6 weeks later, still nothing.

I find the whole thing to be very irresponsible. If you don't intend to notify people in 2 weeks, don't tell them 2 weeks. Tell them you don't know. 😡 It actually really turns me off from the school, which I was really impressed with during my tour.
 
Still no love here. 🙁 I figure maybe if I complain regularly enough, one of the 15 schools I'm still waiting on will throw me a bone...
 
i emailed one of my contacts at the admissions office and they said they're still reviewing my app. i guess that's good!

That is good 🙂 I know you'll hear good news soon. I have contacted a couple of other schools and had a similar response, application still under review. So in my case, I am taking that to mean that I am still in the running for some more interviews. 👍
