Hey Bubbleyum,

I'm still here and lurking but all my attention is invested at the "Look I created two threads..." which was soon hijacked into a discussion about baked goods. Delicious thread and I believe I gained weight just by reading and looking at the pics there.

I am still waiting for the "official thin letter invite" from Drexel. It just doesn't seem official without it and I must have solid, tangible proof since Drexel's office (very nice people by the way) occassionally make mistakes. When are you interviewing at Drexel? I set up a date into the wee days of March.

well i am going to be at drexel january 5th so unfortunately we won't be there on the same day.
i am really hoping my interview goes well at this point seems like taht may be my only interview this cycle... am going to send out some update letters this week and see if that helps at all.

i'm still here too. alas, i have had one interview, two rejections, and two holds. i could use some elation this week. last week was long as hell and this week is even worse.

Ayayay I'm going crazy. SEVEN (yes that's right, seven) rejections, 3 on-holds, and one interview which I've heard nothing about since I went at the beginning of November.
Also, Rayhan, what the crap testicle? I get an interview at Buff and you get rejected, and you get an interview at Drexel, and my file is "pending" there. Med school admissions people are on crack. More importantly, I think Buffalo is on crack for giving me an interview. But I'd sure like to hear back from them!
How much validity do you think the "things are slowing down because of the holidays" theory has? Cause I'd really like to think that come January, the interviews will start piling in!

ok ppl, it is the last month of 2005 and we only have one interview with no signs of another. the rejections keep coming in. what are our application weaknesses and what are we gonna do about it for this cycle? LET'S SHARE AND TAKE ACTION!!

weakest:
1. as a non-trad, have less clinical experience than others.
2. overall have less "science" classes than some other applicants.
3. may not have made an impression on schools with initial secondaries & amcas essay?

action:
1. starting on more volunteer work at neighboring medical center as well as starlight-starbright children's foundation.
2. registered for extra physiology class at state university (currently work full-time)
3. send update letter to schools!

OMFG! I am so astonished and just, wow. If I can do it, anyone can. One interview, one acceptance. It's possible!!!

Does anyone else have significant others that are trying to be supportive but occassionally miss the mark or make you feel worse?

On Friday, when talking about the 1 interview (at USUHS) situation, my hubby hugged me and rubbed my back while saying:

"Well, if we have to do it all over again next year, we will."

Considering he has, until this point, indicated he wouldn't be in favor of another application cycle, this is extremely supportive and generous.

But I wanted to throw up on him at the thought of another year and another application cycle.

WOW funny story actually. When I picked my AIM screenname back in like the 6th grade it was Pepper1o1 BECAUSE Dr. Pepper was my favorite soda (used same sn for sdn because I'm lazy) It's like foreshadowing. Or some other literary device. Maybe.

"ONLY" one interview here, too...I say "only" one, b/c one is a lot, considering my test scores. 2 rejections, 1 "interview pool" (RF), and 14 still waiting to hear... I sure hope I didn't spend all that money for nothing!! (Oh, I was talking about the suit, not applications - HA HA!!)

And I have an interview invite. In the fall semester. Even though I'm a post-bacc and my application was complete 11/1 and I was told more or less to sit on my hands until the end of January.

My roommate rocks. Amazing woman. If I get the chance, I'll plug her in my interview. 😀

also i think it's so funny that dc completely shuts down in the snow. i'm from upstate NY and this is my first time living in dc, and we actually got a SNOW DAY yesterday for the ~1 inch of snow we got. and it wasn't even on the road. HAAAAHA

Pepper, I agree completely. I'm also from upstate NY - I moved to the DC area 2.5 years ago. I remember the first time it snowed while I was living here - I couldn't understand all the announcements for school closures on the radio in the morning (I assumed the power had gone out or something) and when I arrived at work no one else was there yet and my boss was like "thank goodness you made it but you could have come in late - you shouldn't have driven in the 'storm'."

There was max 2 inches of accumulation.

What? You got a snow day? I'm in DC as well, and we still had class. In fact the lecturer kept commenting on how the snow was falling and how he should finish quickly...and kept talking until his hour was up.

But you should see further South. A forecast of half an inch is enough. DC at least pretends to have real snow. 🙄

I wasn't on-hold. But I did call to check my status, to find out the letter had gone out a while ago.

Yesterday I received an email about interviews and inclement weather, and complained to my friend (who also applied) about how mean GW was to send me an email like that.

Today I called them on her advice, only to find out a) I had an interview invite and b) the interview was today. Oops.

The original invite letter never arrived in my mailbox. Since my Drexel secondary similarly never arrived, I'm starting to get a bit concerned...my AMCAS address is correct. Fortunately the lovely GW people believed me and rescheduled my interview, although now it'll be a month later than I could have had. I'll take one slightly late interview over none. 🙂

Sooo...if I change my preferred address on my AMCAS, will it take 4-6 weeks to recertify? I don't want schools to think it wasn't submitted on time.

peper, congratulations. i'm sure the fact that you have such a great mcat score and went to princeton shows that you are a candidate of good caliber. they will give you a chance to explain your gpa during your interview.
