Has anyone ever audited a course? I am considering auditing one this semester to supplement my schedule a little since I have some free time. Anyone ever done this before?

Sure... lots of people, what's the big deal? ahahah...overachievers.. pbthbt

I just signed up for an A&P class that I now have to audit since I will be moving to New Orleans for a few months work before school. Works out nicely for me though, the professor said he would let me take the exams (on the form it states that a student is prohibited from taking tests). It will be a test of will power since I won't receive a grade and have no requirment to attend.

I will be taking Microbiology this semester as an audit course because I don't want to attend the lab that is figured in as part of a 4 credit class.

i'm auditing a class right now. it's the best experience of my college years. when my teacher tells everybody to get started on the first of three 7 page papers, i just sit in the back of the class and laugh in a sinister, satisfied manner. :meanie:

I audited organic 1 before taking organic 2 since it had been 6 years since I took it in my undergrad, studied for and took all tests and quizzes and the homework. At times it was hard to make myself do it, but I knew it was all on the DAT - that was enough for me. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have been as faithful. I just asked the prof, he had no problem...I didn't even have to fill out the forms or pay 🙂

I will audit biochem and microbio. Just sit there and enjoy other people struggling. Sweeeeet!:meanie: 😛

I hope you people aren't paying to audit these courses. You can always just walk in and sit in the back and no one would ever notice. I know they make you pay to audit courses at my school. Seems like a waste of time though, unless you are reviewing for the DAT.

Could someone tell me what auditing a course is? I have never heard of this before??? Thank you! Sorry for the dumb question 🙂

auditing means participating in a course but not technically being part of the class roster in that you won't recieve any grade whatsoever. You are there because you want to learn. No one will ever know you took the course as it doesnt' appear on any transcript or anything.

That's cool. But, will it not appear on your transcript, which may be a concern when applying to the D-schools?

To audit a course before taking it for credit? I'd like to do that with Org. II
because I will be taking it later and can't get in the whole course right now.
If I could go to most of the lectures before taking the course later, I thought
perhaps it would be helpful.

when you audit something, you don't register for it, hence it will not show up on your transcript. In a class filled with 50-500 people, nobody knows who you are so you just show up for the lectures. I already got into a couple of dental schools, so I will audit some classes because it prepares me a bit more for dental school.
