That is an average, I would say first attempt, some parts I was getting low 70 and other parts 90 so average I thikn was like 85 or 83 something like that. But anyway it helps. Good luck

plz provide the answer explanation..... Got my exam this weekend plz!

why cast gold is indicated to replace faulty amalgam?
A. Better margins
b. more ideal contours
c. Less trauma to pulp
d less tooth structure removal

which of the following is of greatest importance in selecting restorative material for class 5 cavity on facial surface of mandibular pm?

i thought the answer should be D. less tooth structure removal.

i think this should be B. resist to stress.

what is the source of these question? answer which u showed i think something wrong...

hope this helps

hope this helps
source is asda released paper L, q no 57, 58... Answers are acc to released paper key..

I thought of
a, better margins because marginal leakage in amalgma, while we provide bevel in cast gold

d, esthetics, really imp in lower premolars esp in class 5...

it can be thought in ur way.. and why i gave answer of less tooth structure removal was because as compared to making crown.. if amalgam restoration fails.. gold will obv preserve more as we have to prepare less.. as compared to whole crown.. 🙂 i think i am giving crazy explanation.. 🙂 l:laugh::laugh:

second question.. i am sorry.. u r right.. but i dont know i have heard from many dentist.. that... it should not cause irritation to gingival tissues.. or in long term it will cause gingivitis and recession and all other problem...

i was confused class 5 as caries on cusp tips.. (my conservative endo i just started 🙂) ... but esthetics i think can completely satisfy the thing!

did u finished pt management?? i feel it soo boring.. lol..

gingival 1/3rd of mand pm is hardly visible when we smile.esthetics does not play a role here.this area is less stress bearing area when compared to occlusal surface.so the ans shud be reaction of gingival tissue.

Q no 1:Both in vital teeth and teeth which had undergone root canal therapy, the most common reason for amalgam re-placement was cusp fracture, with the fracture of non-functional cusps being statistically significant. Recurrent caries was the second most common reason for amalgam replacement. In Class I restorations, the most common reasons were recurrent caries and esthetics, with no statistical significance. The most frequent problem in Class II restorations was fracture of non-functional cusps, with a statistical significance in three-surface restorations.

so here, option b.more ideal contours seems to be the better option.

correct me if i'm wrong.

I think answer to your first question is choice b because its one of the advantages to use cast gold alloys in large tooth preparations also the restoration will be prepared indirectly i.e in a dental lab. where the technitian has the liberty to give much more exacting contour and contact relationship with the adjacent tooth, which is not possible with amalgam restorations in all cases...since the tooth is already restored with amalgam tooth prep for cast gold is going to sacrifice much more tooth structure so other optins cant be true.... marginal adaptation with cast gold is not superior to ideally prepared and finished/polished amalgam restoration so first option is also incorrect also cementation is required in case of cast gold restoration which has the possibility of seepage of fluids between the margins...

answer to 2nd question is option a because for example take composites as a restortative material for class V cavities...if the retraction of gingiva is not possible then Composites are contraindicated on the contrary amalgam can be used....since the condition of gingiva and its reaction to materials plays a major role in selection of materials ans is option A....

Hi All,

Tooth fairy,

In question 2 it said Mand Pm so esthetic is not concern. If we smile, the gingival third of pm is not visible so we do not have to think about esthetic. So, we will see gingival recession after some months of class 5 restoration. We usually restore class 5 with composite and during its finishing and polishing we will to some extent traumatized the gingiva as a result there is gingival recession due to rxn to gingival tissue.
I hope this clears your doubt.
Good luck for the NBDE2 tooth fairy...

can anyone suggest is it worth buying Crack the Nbde - 2 . They r giving money back guarantee.....?
