Hey, I don't always post only good news about USC. I did post the two LATimes articles last year about the County computers crashing and almost killing a few people and the ER docs who said people have died because they have to wait to long for treatment. It is just that I read the LATimes everyday and most people don't, so whenever I see something people would care about, I post it. The one that I did miss lately was one that was actually extremely positive about the future of County hospital (the old 1932 building)


As for my sources, I talked to him a week ago about it, and really I didn't learn anything to new. Basically all of the temporary administrators working at Drew are from County, so we arn't to happy about that. But as far as Drew goes, Nothing really new.

My personal opinion changes from week to week. I think King hospital will be a lot stronger 5 years down the road. The only question is if it has to Ditch Drew in order to do that. You have to realize that having an efficient operating hospital is the County Supervisors number one conern, and having a hospital that trains residents doesn't help that goal. My personal belief is that if King has one more scandal of people dying, Drew will be cut, even if it is not at fault. It makes it easier to fix the problems at King if you don't also have to fix the problems at Drew.

I don't think it would happen that way, if it was to happen. I believe UCLA would still offer some rotations at King, and it would be like Harbor and Olive-View.

That's like me going to the UCLA thread and posting all the trash that's happening with them like the cadaver scandal. Pro-UCLA students may not want to hear it.

You may say that you want applicants to be informed but for all intents and purposes, Drew is still a good school no matter how bad the articles may make them look. It is still affiliated with UCLA, it offers cheap tuition, and you will still be able to rotate at good hospitals besides the King one. It is obvious you think the school is going to the crapper, but maybe other students may not think so.

I personally have no opinion on Drew news, good or bad, on this thread. I dont think it'll really change anyone's desire or lack of desire to go to the school anyway. If they are easily swayed against going there b/c of the bad news, they they probably werent a good fit at Drew anyway.

oh no that wasnt my intention. i just put it for pepole who might be interested. i think drew is an amazing place and the drew/ucla program is one of a kind. sometimes people arent smart enough to see these things.

I spoke to Jeff today and according to him, Drew has ONLY taken 22 students and there are 2 slots available still. Usually schools take about twice as many applicants to make up for the fact that some students choose other schools. However at Drew, that has yet to happen. Likely that will happen after may 15th and people from the waitlist will get taken. That definitely clears up things. He also told me my file goes to the committee today!!!!

Thanks for that update...that is DEFINITELY good news because not all 22 will accept a place at Drew and this leaves space for another 20-25 off the waitlist! 😀

OK well here is what I know so far...I emailed jeffrey recently and discussed my situation with him. he said that he would talk to the admissions committee about rushing my file. anyway point is, i havent even gone to committee yet since my interview which was april 12th..so they are still making decisions on the later people who interviewed. so waitlist people may not be even looked at until early june. i think my file is going probably this week or the week after so i hope for an answer soon. as soon as i know i'll let you guys know..i pray its good news. ok well talk to u all later...bye!!!

I got a reply back from both Wanda and Jeffery today so I guess the answer was to wait. All they told me was that they have my updated info and that I was still on the alternate list 🙁 but hey I'm glad they at least answered me back 🙂 . I've also talked to a friend of mine at Drew and he told me to keep hope alive cause last years class wasn't filled until late august 👍 . Thanks to everyone posting Drew updates 👍 every little bit helps! Good Luck Everyone
