Anyone going to NOVA?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
My check is in the mail...can't wait!!

Has anyone started searching for apartments/houses? I want to get an apartment within walking distance (~1 mi) to Nova.

Any good websites besides Nova's to search for apartments in the area?

I just received an invitation for an interview at Nova, do you have any advice for me? Thanks

I just want to let you all know that i am also going to nova this fall ( i got my acceptance last week), and i can't wait to meet all of you. y'all sound like a fun bunch. anyways feel free to write to me in case you guys wanna chat about nova. i just graduated from FIU and live in the miami area just in case anyone wants to know about life down here in south florida. you guys take care and i hope to see you guys on july 31st. 🙂

I think I will be attending Nova in the fall. I am actually going back down to visit again coming in March. If any current students want to give me some advise about living and student life I would really appreciate it. Good luck everyone, hope to meet you all soon 😉

Hey Guys!

I'm going to NOVA!!!! I'm so excited, I just got my call from Dr. Lippman!!!
Can't wait to see you all in beautiful Ft. Lauderdale!

Congratulations to you all!! Seems to me like not very many people are rejecting their acceptances to Nova. Am I right?

Congrats all of you! Can't wait to meet you all. Anyone know what their living conditions are gonna be? Need roommates anyone??? Keep in touch!

I'm looking to buy a house or a condo. I do need a roomate, though! I am looking for a non-smoking female who is laid back but gets things done, doesn't party too much but knows how to have a good time, and respects volume levels when it comes to studying.

If anyone is interested, let me know!

I'm a female and will be 22 in June, in case that matters lol.

Oh yeah, one more thing- no indoor cats. 🙂

I will be applying to dental school this summer and really have my eye on NOVA. I have a brother inlaw who attends (I think he is a third year).

Anyone know if NOVA gives any kind of bonus for relation to alumni (he is only my inlaw but thought I would ask)? My brother is a 4th year at USC and he says they give a substantial bonus for alum. relatives...dunno if it is true though.

You guys think one should list inlaws on the application where asked if a relation has ever attended X university?

I'm also looking for an apartment similar to the above description (walking distance to NSU-CDM). Does anybody know how high the rent is over there for a studio or 1-bedroom apt?

I couldn't take the anticipation of waiting for a call so I called Nova this morning.....and I'm in.
I interviewed on Feb 10th, so if anyone else is out there who interviewed around that time just call and ask.

21 Male (will be 22 when school starts) looking for a roommate (male or female) doesn't really matter... if interested, send me a message, email, or catch me on AIM at sgellardds

I'm a 21 year old male looking for a roomate. I'm going to be there in June probably. I want to live really close to school.

For those that applied for FAFSA, did you guys get the letter from the financial office saying you needed to turn in NSU authorization form and you werent admitted. I called and they said I need to turn in all my transcripts from all my schools including my current college. I dont graduate until May, so I cant send them a final transcript until May. Anyone else get anything different or something that says what type of aid they got?

Thanks

I haven't done the FAFSA yet... is there a deadline?

I dont think there is one for NOVA, but for Fed Govt I think its like 1 month before you enroll or something. Not sure, check the govt site

Since we are all talking about FAFSA, does anybody know if we need to include our parents financial info if we are claiming independent?

During my interview, the financial aid officer stated that we needed to put our parents info down even if we were claiming independent. Also, there was a section in FAFSA that stated if I was going to graduate school that I should put down my parents info. However, I read other FAFSA threads on SDN that stated that we do not need to. I emailed NSU Financial Aid office and got a reply stating that if we were going to claim independent, we do not need to put our parents info.

I'm so confused... do we or don't we need to put our parents financial info???

I want to get the most money out of the student loans and I'm afraid that if I put my parents info in FAFSA, I will get less loans. Somebody know the answer to this?

I don't ever seem to remember anyone telling me that I needed to put down my parents' info. According to the FAFSA instructions, you only put parents' information if you are a dependent. Just my two cents anyway.

About FAFSA deadlines, I thought I remember someone saying that in order to make sure that you have funds available for Fall tuition, you should really get your application submitted by May 1st.

Could be wrong, but I thought that is what I had been told.

So I've seen this question posted in another thread and thought I'd ask you guys. Do we need to collect teeth for Nova? Also have any of you recieved anything in the mail since you sent in your deposit?

All I received after sending in my first deposit was the residency application. As far as the teeth, I'm also wondering that myself. Are we talking about animal or human teeth? Cause I have no idea where to get any of those from.

I have another question. Do you guys know what color scrubs we are going to be wearing for the next four years. As far as I know we get the color that the fourth years have right now (hello Yah-E)?

Whats up fellas!

I got my acceptance in December and will likely be attending NOVA unless UPENN gives the green. In this case, Nova is a fantastic fallback!

ALERT: Don't forget to pay you second $500 deposit due MARCH 15th!!!
I was thinking they would send another letter asking for it but it was stated in my acceptance letter. Another $1000 deposit is due on MAY 15th.

Is there a NSUCDM grad at Marquette Ortho? I don't recall? Who?

Just so you new NSUCDM students can brag, this year, never in the history in the state of FL, all seniors from NSUCDM who took the FL state licensure exam on March 3rd - 5th, passed!

Boys & girls, we're talking about 100% passing rate for the Class of 2006!

There were 50 some NSUCDM seniors who took the FL state licensure exam in this March session.

Roughly 40 some of us will be taking the Western Regional licensure exam (WREB) in April.

Another 10 or so (who didn't take the March session) will take the FL state licensure exam in the June session.

Both FL and WREB licensure exams are held in our clinic (home field advantage), FL licensure exams are held twice a year in our clinic, in March and in June, but WREB is only held once at NSUCDM in April.

Hmmm...I wonder how UF seniors did? Not 100%, I can tell you that! 😉
