anyone hear from UVM?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yes, I am starting in the spring, er, on Monday. And you?

I just found out like 20 mins ago!! I'm so excited this school is amazing and has wonderful resources. Not to mention its my home-state and has a great linkage to NECOM! Polly-Allen is such a nice women and I am so happy she is my advisor. Anyone else get in? I'm still deciding when to start- either this summer or Fall 08. Ahh! 🙂🙂😀🙂🙂

Just curious to see if anyone has heard back from UVM regarding their post bac program starting in the summer or fall...

how long is this program?? can someone put the direct link to this program? I wanna do dentistry ...Can i submit my DAT ? appreciate your feedback

The program takes 1-2 years. They require a 3.0 or higer and GRE's or SAT's for admissions. As well as two LOR and obviously grades from all your schools. Being a VT resident helps alot, I think. You have to maintain a 3.0 to get sponsored by the school. This was by far the hardest program I applied to and after hearing the kinds of people that get admitted from the advisors I thought I had no chance at all given my small liberal arts school. Here is the link to their website: http://learn.uvm.edu/?Page=postbac.html . As far as all the DAT stuff I'm not really sure. I guess if its high enough they will take it but the program, I believe, is designed for people with little sciences and have not taken MCAT/DAT. But don't take my word give them a call.

I'm still waiting to hear back but I hope to get something soon. Can those of you that already got accepted post up some stats to show others how it stacks up to other schools?

Here is a website you can look at for ALL post bacs. It was very helpful to me when I applied. http://services.aamc.org/postbac/ . I'm not sure if your question was for other schools or personal stats. If you want personal stats I will post if you want.

Hey thanks for responding...I've seen that site before but was curious to see personal stats of being getting in or getting rejected.

Because this school has a linkage, I believe that they accept people with really good grades and will be very competitive after the program. On their website they say that 80-85% got into their field of study after this program. When I talked to the admissions officer she told me about some of the people: Brown, Princeton, Yale Grads, as well as some people with Ph.D's career changers etc and Peace Corp. So I would assume this is a very competitive program. My stats are 131 credits (atm) cum 3.6 B.S Management with a concentration in Finance. I have alot of EC; President of several clubs and around 500 hours ER and another 400-500 OR experience. I've also been very active in the community with a sustainability program with an un-medical related publication for the city, which according to the admissions lady that was very helpful and looks great. If you need any help just ask I will be more than happy to help. 🙂

Well reading your stats is like a swift kick to the nads....hopefully I get a shot even with people like you in the app. pool.

**And congrats on your acceptance

I'm sure you will do fine. It is a hard program with a linkage and the program has a track record of 85%-90% matriculation rate into medical school so they have to keep their stats up. What are your stats? And if you have any other questions let me know i'll give you all the information I have. 😀

I got a 3.84 match and science gpa, 3.4something cum (damn accounting kills me). Econ and accounting major and minor. Everything else is there but the only part I'm worried about is the EC's because I have to take care of elderly relatives so I don't have much time. Hopefully they consider that when going through the applications. Either way it's only a waiting game now so no biggy.

When did you apply? And what were your SAT or GRE scores? Also, a tip I would keep on top of them because they seem to not call if you are missing something in your application.

I sent in my junk around late October....can't remember exactly what my SAT was and I'm too lazy to pull it out now, but it was the mid 1300's. Also, I've been in contact with the office up there a few times so I know nothing is missing. Hopefully I'll hear something back soon but if not I'll just drop them a line because they're always helpful.
