It seems like a bunch of interview invites were sent out quite awhile ago and all has been quiet since. Anyone heard anything? I thought I was good in the patience department, then I started these apps and it went all out the window...:D

I too have been wondering what was going on with Columbia. I got an interview to Penn like 2 months ago, and I haven't heard anything from Columbia. I figured if I got one to Penn then I would probably get one from Columbia, but who knows.

Why in the world would you want to go to Columbia after their little stunt?

Yeah, I said it.

The Simpsons, panacea to all.

What stunt?

Columbia's president Lee Bollinger's remarks about the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. I thought the president's retort was pretty clever, and it did look bad on Columbia's behalf. You guys think I should bring that up during my interview there on Friday? hahaha

Ah.. I'm listening to the speech right now. They were interesting and important questions, but probably better left for later. As a representative of the University, Bollinger should have introduced Ahmadinejad in a more neutral manner.

In any case, I'll be there on Friday too!

i just received my interview invite today!! So their still on top of things

What stunt, how about allowing an insane socialist leader of an oppressed country to speak in an open forum on campus, when they CARRIED Minuteman founder, Jim Gilchrist off the stage a year ago. Not only that they wont allow ROTC on campus. Champions of free speech? Right, right. How about champions of free speech as long as they agree with it. Bunch-a Jack Maroons!

Woops. I had a Simpson's pictorial response because I thought you were joking/ranting.

He provided a stage for the freedom of speech (World Leaders Forum), but then went on to make an introduction that didn't exactly facilitate proper discourse. So what ? It's not like Ahmadinejad didn't share his piece as well, especially in his 40 minute shellacking against the greater world at the UN recently. I think Bollinger displayed some huge balls by saying what he did. The last paragraph of his speech was humbling, I thought.

As a side note though, has anyone had interview questions that stemmed into the political arena, or has it been just mainstream current events ?

while Bollinger did show off the size of his cojones, i think it was a comment unfit for such a forum. i am by no means a supporter of Ahmadinejad, but at the same time, Bollinger should have used more discretion with his comment. seemed like a cop out low blow if you ask me.

Fair enough. I guess I saw it a little differently. Just my preference, but I prefer candor to contrived and watered down verbal exchanges.

I got an e-mail today for an interview with them :)
