Hi everyone...

Just curious to know if anyone has ever taken or heard of anyone having to take a 4 part written test for a few hours in order to get hired. I am told its affiliated with a management company that manages many dental offices. And it will tell both the employer and employee (more the employer) if they would both be a good fit for the office. Questions, and pictures drawn... I am thinking its some sort of personality test maybe and how one would handle certain situations. Based on the test, the possible employer would give you a working interview next. Does anyone have any idea what this might be?

Any thoughts or ways to prepare would be greatly appreciated... thanks!

I've taken a personality test in order to get hired for a medical job. They ask a ton of questions that start repeating once you are starting to wear down mentally, checking for consistency. I would suggest answering honestly but with common sense. I remember one question was, "would you ever give an illegeal drug to a coworker" and I was thinking, "sure, if it was the only drug that could save their lives at that point in time" but put down "no".

Yes -- I have a friend that requires a written essay from all employs. He does it for 2 reasons.

#1 He want to make sure they can express themselves well in written form. This is important to him as he was an English major or some such reason.

#2 He sends the writing sample off to a graphologist to get a personality profile on the potential employee. (I know a little about graphology and I think he has a good idea there.)

Graphology huh, can you elaborate on this?

Is this in dentistry or some other field? If my employer was anal enough to make me write an essay I would think our personalities would not match.

I think having new employees provide a short, on the spot writing sample is an excellent idea. The ability to express yourself clearly and accuratey through writing is essential from a medicolegal standpoint.

I'm not saying your front desk and assistants need to be well versed in Chaucer, but they need to be able to write a paragraph that makes sense. It is amazing how many people can't do that.

Wow, never heard of this before for a new dentist. I have however, had to take about a 2 hour manual dexterity exam when I applied as a dental technician to a local lab before dental school and that was a complete joke. Something like 5 timed sections to see for example, how many boxes you can complete by placing two checkmarks in each box. Or, drawing a pencil line up and down between two triangles (like a maze) without touching any of the triangles. Completely ridiculous.

essay? has the resume not spoken for itself? not working there.....

Well once i give a interview for a job in private medial clinic , they start asking tons of questions just to make me loose my confidence....its obvious...
