Hi. For those of you that are actually in a TEXAS pharmacy program, could you answer the following:

1. List the Pharm school (UH, TSU, UT, etc.)
2. What school did you take prereq's at
3. rate 1-10 (1 being easy, 10 as hard) how difficult prerequisites were
4. rate 1-10 how difficult curriculum for pharmacy program is.
5. What is your average grade during pharm program
6. how much do you study to make the grades you have in pharm school
7. do you think most people in your program need to study a lot in order to make A's? and about how many hours of studying do you think they need to make an A
8. What was your PCAT score

I am trying to decide which school I would like to go to, assuming I get accepted... I'm just scared that the curriculum might be really really difficult... so I want to compare different schools.

1. UTexas
2. Baylor
3. 6
4. New curriculum not too sure prob around 7?
5. 3.2
6. eh
7. eh
8. 87

Go to UT for pharmacy school...it's that simple. Tech if you don't get into UT.

1. A&M
2. UT
3. 7
4. 6.5
5. Usually make around 90-94 on most tests
6. Depends on the class, but generally a lot more than undergrad
7. Depends on the class and whether they had retail experience (some classes are easier if you've had experience)
8. 98

I wouldn't pick/eliminate schools based on perceived curriculum difficulty. I'd look at geographic location, affiliations each school has with local hospitals/employers and the elusive "good fit" feeling you get when you interview at the school. A&M is an excellent school, but Kingsville was definitely an adjustment. PM me if you have more questions.

wow, excellent PCAT score!

ive actually been looking into USN. i really like the program they offer, but its so expensive (almost 40,000 not even including fees or living expenses). i guess my 2nd choice as of now is UH since i live in houston...

is there a limit on the amount you can take out on a school loan? thats the thing im worried about at USN (besides it being super competitive to get in)

University of Southern Nevada. Many people point out USN as an option if you need academic forgiveness, but I'd like to stress that schools that don't participate in PharmCAS are allowed to calculate candidate GPA's any way they please.

To the OP and others: Simply put, many schools out there have "academic forgiveness" (taking the highest grade for a course, instead of averaging the grades of each attempt) but may not advertise it.

I attend Texas A&M and did my pre-reqs largely at a community college (also received a bachelors from a different school in a far different field). The pre-reqs weren't too difficult in comparison to my current course load. The biggest challenge I've faced in pharmacy school is trying to juggle 8 different courses a semester, each with a professor who treats you like you're only taking his course. God help you if you forget you have a busy work assignment due!

Amen. each class alone is easy...multiple classes together, including busy work, is the hard part.
