Anyone interviewing at Vermont this thursday?

Vermont in the Fall is incredible.

Vermont in the winter is better.

Killington = teh ****.

You must be joking.

Lol, sorry, that was a bit snarky, but Killington is seriously far from the best skiing VT has to offer - it's overcrowded, the terrain is huge but most of it is repetitive and not very challenging. Of course, I grew up on the west coast so I'm picky.

I won't be in VT on Thursday but I will be there the evening of 9/22 with nothing to do - if anyone else is around that evening we should explore Burlington together (I won't have a car).

What resorts do you think are the best in VT? I'm trying to organize a trip there this winter and would love advice on where to go.

I apologize for the semi-off-topic question...

I guess which resort depends on what you are looking for. Killington does actually have good nightlife, and for beginner skiers I guess it's passable. If you are looking for more challenging terrain and fewer people on the snow then Burke Mtn, Jay's Peak, or Mad River Glen.

Compared to other places I've skiied at in VT such as snow, okemo, stratton etc... killington is much better.

But yeah west coast, lucky ****. Nothing beats colorado.

Vail = the **** no arguments.

Yeah, I was born in CO, lived in UT, OR, MT, WA and the Canadian Rockies, so I was a bit spoiled.

Darnnn, they released the student host list hours after I made my hotel reservation. Probably too short notice anyway

I would, but I just read your message and I'm in my hotel room prepping at 8pm. But I'll see you tomorrow! My name is Sergio.

Haha, enjoy your interview, but I was there last thursday =P

Kaydubz - How did your interview go? I have one there on Tuesday and I'm getting really excited (and a little bit nervous)!!!!

I think it went well. I was interviewed by two people though, one who had never interviewed anyone before. The questions on the feedback are pretty accurate, and my interview was laid-back and quite conversational. Ended up talking about historical nonfiction books that I shared an interest in with the senior interviewer. But one thing you should definitely do is ask the med students / people you meet about the person interviewing you. I heard of at least one interviewer who would grill you for the whole 45-60min. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! So you find out who's interviewing you beforehand? I hope I don't get the really tough one since this is my first interview...

My experience at UVM was great, but when I got to the actual interview part of the day it was not as laid back as everyone is saying. I though it would be very conversational yet my interviewer asked questions for about 45 minutes straight with out commenting on my answers. It was a very disconcerting feeling and was a little incongruent with the feeling of the rest of my day. Aside from this the school is awesome and I would love to go there.

Yeah, you find out as soon as you check into the admissions department, and you've got plenty of time to do a little research if you want.

Yeah, if I got someone like that I would probably break into a nervous laugh every two questions and make myself look like an idiot, but I think that's just the style of a lot of interviewers and you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

That's sort of how my pre-med committee interview went. I had two interviewers, and after every question they asked, one of them put his finger on his chin and said "Interesting..." I thought for sure he didn't like me at all, but at the end of the interview when we get feedback they had only positive things to say about me. Sometimes the seemingly worst interviewers go a lot better than you think.
