Volunteering BLOWS in the bay area. Most organizations i've seen require long term commitment (like at least 6 months). If you're not going anywhere anytime soon, there are plenty of places. Unfortunately, I don't know any specific places because i never applied since I wasn't around long enough (i go to college out of state).
