Hi, I am going to take MCAT at Rutgers University at Newark. I am not familiar with it at all. Can someone who know there tell me if there is a cafeteria nearby? And is there any microwave available in that. I am thinking of bring my own lunch as I always have bad appetite to cafeteria food, but if there is no microwave, there is no point to prepare the lunch.

Thank you very much

The MCAT will be at the law school which is a new building. I'm not sure if there's a microwave in this building but there is a nice student lounge where you can sit and eat lunch.

There is a cafeteria at their student center "Paul Robinson Center" (I believe) which is across the street about 3 buildings away in front of the library. Unfortunately, their cafeteria is closed on Saturdays, but they have a Starbucks that is open on weekends located in the same building. There is NO microwave in their student center ( I once spent 10 minutes of my EK lunch hour looking for a microwave for my ramen). Their Starbucks sell very limited deli sandwiches and costs $6-8. I've seen some Rutgers students use NJIT's cafeteria but I don't recommend it since it's a far walk from the law center. (Soda/water vending machines are located everywhere in Rutgers.)

As for lunch, the best bet would be to bring your own. Don't rely on Starbucks for your lunch because a) there are many other weekend students that eat there, again limited sandwiches and b) their food is not starchy enough to hold you until Bio. BRING ENERGY BARS/BANANA in addition to your lunch. A lot of students choose Newark for their testing site and it takes a while for proctors to collect and count exams in between tests. You're going to be there for a while. Hope this helps.

Bring your own sandwich/fruit/power bars.... Trust me its a big place and you really don't want to waste any time looking for food, by having to walk a few blocks. Accross the street from the law center there a pizzaria and an upscale (expensive but really good) cater/deli/cafe, but I'm not sure if either will be open on Sat. You can probably call to find out if they are open...I'll get the name, next time I pass by.
