Just curious to know. If so what was your gpa at cc and what was it at the 4 year. Where did you apply and where did you get interviews?

I'm a sophomore that just transferred to a 4 year, so I'm just curious as to how my freshmen cc credits will affect my application.

I got my associates from a community college. I took Gen Chem at my cc. I've gotten five interviews so far at UNLV, ASDOH, Western, Roseman, and University of Utah. My GPA at my community college was a 3.55. Good luck! 🙂

I have 5 interviews, Midwestern AZ, LECOM, NYU, Detroit Mercy, Michigan. GPA was a 3.4ish at cc and 3.9 at university.

2 years of CC (3.66), and 3 more years at university ( see below )

I got interview from USC this cycle.

Dont' worry about where you took courses, but GPA and DAT

if you do well at 4 year college or university, you will be fine

Even if you have a lot of CC credit, a good 4 year University gpa and solid dat scores will make it a non factor.

Hey man why would you lose motivation, now your in a position to prove your competitive on a Uni. level as well. And your that step closer to Dental school.

Im in the same position as you except im a Sophomore at a CC (Getting my AA) and just got accepted to my top pick Uni. 😀 (Wahoo!!) Its nothing private or too prestigious but they have a dental school and great campus. My point is you should be more motivated than ever, but I would like to know what's killing your Motto.

The atmosphere at my new school is just too chill, my schedule makes me lazy, I don't even study as much as I did at cc, and driving 35+ minutes to school makes it even more easier to listen to music, get distracted, and on the way back I leave behind everything I did at school and look forward to getting home after a long day of class from 8 - 6 with an hour half and some 15 minute breaks in between.

I have class from 8 - 6 Tuesdays, 11 - 6 Thursdays, and 8 - 11 am Fridays. Driving that long from school and too school has me feeling like leaving what's at school, stays at school, no worries or work to be done at home. I have genetics and organic chemistry 1 the same days (Tuesday and Thursday), organic chemistry lab 1 Tuesdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays I have speech and humanities also. Fridays I have transfer lab, it's considered a 200 level elective. Lost motivation to go to the gym because school has me working on homework, or I'm too lazy and tired because of school. My first test I had organic chemistry and genetics the same day, as well as a lab write up, discussion for lab, quiz for lab, had to hand in midterm paper for humanities (I love my sister she did it for me lol), and a speech, but I didn't even practice the speech and got an A in it.

I have a really bad procrastination problem is what I think caused me to lose my motivation. After doing bad on my first test for orgo and genetics, I don't want to even try anymore. I started studying the night before for my tests along with the other stuff due the same day as my tests.

I think I did good on my genetics test that I took Thursday and I have an orgo test this Thursday. I need to do good on it, but yeah knowing myself I won't do anything until the night before, isn't a good thing.

when you transferred to a university, life will be much different there(assuming it is a good university). I did all my prereqs at cc and this semester is my 2nd semester at 4 year uni. It is harder here in a sense that there are many things that can distract you. Plus many times you have to learn things ON YOUR OWN still maintaining a good gpa though.

Your other classes are cake as a procrastinator OK great, Now if you take initiative in Ochem your worries should be reduced drastically its easier to not procrastinate on one class than for a whole schedule so take small bites. As far as the commute to school consider living in the dorms or closer to campus, I plan to live in the dorms when I transfer.

I think it is a combination of both. This probably just me but back at cc, I was a straight A student. I studied a ton and I would always do my homework the day it was assigned. After transferring to university, I just lost lots of that motivation lol and I am NOT exactly sure what it is. I think that in terms of difficulty, university is harder NOT in a sense of materials being presented or tested, but rather the atmosphere, and things that easily can distract you (girls for example hahaha). I have been lucky to still get straight A's my first semester at the university but this semester I lost so much of that motivation and ended up dropping a class to protect my GPA.

I am actually renting a room about 5 minutes from the university and socially, my life has been boring as well. I guess this also plays a role on why I feel so lazy and NOT want to do anything. It is really tough because if you live in a dorm, chances are you will easily be distracted by your surroundings. And if you live off-campus, socially you just feel left out.

Girls is my #1 distraction here to bro, its easier to say "sorry guys I cant go out for pizza I have to study" than it is to say "sorry super model I cant lick whip cream off your belly button I have to study". But besides distractions it's good to know that the material may not be to much more difficult sometimes I wonder if im learning as much as my Uni. friends in my Pre reqs that i'll need for the DAT but I feel im getting adequate coverage of the subject but I don't have anything to compare it to until I transfer.

Yep I did the same thing, for prereqs some bio and both gchem at cc and the rest at 4 yr public university and I got 4 interview invites out of 5 schools i applied to. 😀

EDIT: I believe that most dschools want your 3000/4000 science prereqs done at 4 yr b/c most cc's only have to 2000 level class. For example Ogranic Chem is typically 3000 level (junior), not 2000 (sophomore). Depends on the school I suppose.

yeah i guess hahah but the problem is that I DO want to socialize more... lol but its been hard since i live off campus.
I think as far as cc prereqs, if you do well on the science portion of the DAT, youll be fine. I did pretty good on the TS section except bio (18).

I live with my parents. Sadly even getting the highest scholarship for gpa (3.75 - 4.00) get awarded about 11,400 or somewhere in the 11 thousand range. I get an award for like 1k because my sister goes to same school, and financial aid pays like 3k. So I'm left with around 8500 a year.

It sucks being middle class or a bit over middle class because we get hurt by all these benefits and stuff other people get. My family lives in the suburbs and school is more west. So commuting 35+ one way. I think during the winter it might take an hr +.
Apartments are cheaper than dorming, but apartments are 750+ dollars.

I used to take studying and concentration seriously at cc. The only thing that distracted me was me in the basement hearing my grandmas tv upstairs and if I was to study in my room right on top of her room I still hear it through the vents. I even used to play an addicting game back then and I'd stop playing to study. Now I'm distracted with forums (not sdn) but I'm banned for a month from the bodybuilding forums I'm always on haha. School is too far and the friends make it even harder. I do refuse to leave and hang out sometimes, but it's not staying in the house that's the problem. The problem is seeing more and more friends at school cheers you up and puts you in the not serious joking mood.

They do care about school. Most of them aren't in my class and usually don't study at school but do good. I will start studying at school though. I'll go to the quiet floor, it should help. The people in my class don't seem to like group studying.
