Hello, I am thinking of purchasing pda(since my old one broke). I am planning to buy one with wireless technology. Does anyone have advice on this? Seems like fun technology but really expensive(My budget is $300). Also, it seems pretty hard to view online journal in such a tiny screen. Any advice is appreciated.

I tried it, it's expensive, performance isn't too good, and it's VERY hard to read anything graphic on the screen. I didn't keep it.

I have a tablet PC with Wi-Fi. It works well at home but my access on UW's campus is unreliable. Honestly connecting to the wireless network on campus is a pain. I have been known to go to the library and swipe a T-1 line off the back of a library terminal and plug in my tablet when I need access. Wi-Fi is friggin slow if you are used to anything besides archaic dial-up. You also need to be careful how you log into a wireless network as security can be an issue. Does your work or school have Wi-Fi for you to connect to? Unless you have a definite use in mind, there is not a reason to pay got the extra feature.

The crap about wireless is that you'll always need that signal. Otherwise...it's still crappy.

I love the fact that UT has a #3 in nation for best wireless connections. 🙂

A pharmacist I know has a PDA and she said that though wireless is a spiffy thing to have, it's practically meaningless. In the hospital she works at, the dept. is pretty close to the ER and Telemetry so the use of wireless technology is slightly frowned upon.

Thanks for the advice guys! I am going to UCSF. The campus seems pretty well "wired" but I wanted get an opinion from someone who actually used it.

Hi,
I have a Palm Tungsten (organizer+phone) and I tried the wireless access. I was very disappointed to how slow the service was, the number of pages that failed to load, and how expensive the service was. I cancelled the service after a month and would rather just check my e-mail using a computer. Unless you have some urgent business involving e-mails and trading stocks, I wouldn't recommend it.

We're taking about a different type of wireless, but I'm not sure what the OP intended. Some have wireless as in 802.11b and others have cellular capability. I assumed that the OP meant 802.11b for use on a high speen LAN.
