I applied to 31 dschools this cycle, not one interview, all rejections. My gpa is a 3.03 overall and a 3.13 science. I have had a 3.7 for the past 3 semesters, and this semester should see similar results. Im taking post bacc courses now, upper level biology courses. Im not sure what I should do for this next year, a masters in biology i think will help, but not sure. my dat was, ill give all them for keepsake value.

Anyone have similar situation as me and got in? I dont know whats up.any suggestions appreciated.
keep it gully.

DAT scores are fine, but the adcoms may be wondering if you can handle the heavy course load in D-school based on your GPA so a master's program might be your best bet.

Schools that you applied to def. did not like your GPA. Apply to schools with low GPA req-nts if you don't hear from this cycle. Also, if you have GPA of 3.7 from post-back, you'll be good for the next cycle ... b/c schools prolly didn't see your increased GPA when you submitted your transcripts. Not sure about masters thou.

Another option is retake the DAT (and substantially better) and take a year off instead of the Masters.

Or maybe do both, raise your gpa and your DAT.

Definitely don't take a year off. I suggest doing a Masters program. Your DAT is fine, it's your GPA that is holding you back. Adcoms want to see you actively involved in academics, so taking a year off should be the last thing on your mind, IMO.

i am surprised that you don't get even one interview out of 31 d schools...😱

I didn't mean for him to do nothing during that year. He could shadow, do research, volunteer etc. (he would have to)

Also, I was just offering a different option, not necessarily the best one 🙂.

Oh, I didn't mean to sound like I was attacking you or anything, I just think the best option is to raise that GPA. Those other activities you mentioned are also things to do during the next year, but of primary concern is the GPA.

Try looking into special masters programs as well. If you are unsure whether or not you want to retake the DAT, call some of the adcoms and see if they would be willing to talk to you about your application and how to improve and if retaking the DAT is necessary.
